Im conflicted with the club. Ive always wanted it to be strong when it comes to agents and transfer values after decades of being screwed over through our desperation to buy anybody. But also want us to get this bloody striker sorted asap .Mowbray on leaving did say fans might not be happy about how long it will take for us to get back to the PL, I think this is what he meant. We won't budge from valuations or waiting for our youth to develop . Different culture and overall I'm still on board as the past way never worked.
I think that's the nature of the beast mate, football isn't logical, not even for the owners. KLD could make more money putting his cash in a building society account, there's very little glory and endless difficult decisions. All this with continual flak from some people who demand you 'get out of our club' ... ... personally I want us to build a real team that won't just scrape promotion, like Luton did, only for it all to fall apart and end up back at square one. Players, like Ballard, Rigg, etc, could easily leave but they really seem committed to the club, it's been years since I've seen that.
Another week on and no change from the coaching set up with an additional proper 1st team assistant manager chosen by Le Bris or a competent centre forward. Concerning to say the least now. Feels like we are so near to having a really good season yet so far without those 2 vital components.
I agree . This is the only way to structurally change the club for the better. KLD and his advisors are trying to improve the scene behind the football ie CEO,COO,CBO at the same time as building a squad with longevity . With limited revenues and EFL financial restrictions within the game that's a tough gig. With the age of our squad we could be 2/3 more years away from a mature stable team where we only add one/two quality players per year. Like the big teams do ..
Heading into the first game of this season with likely only one improvement to the first 11 I have to say is a bit disappointing. I understand fully some of the mitigating factors behind this, nevertheless I think it is disappointing. I think we have a relatively favourable start, and a chance to get into the leading group early. I hope we dont consider it a missed opportunity at the end of the season. I think Browne will make a positive difference to the side. I really do like his game and it will complement the likes of Neil and Jobe. Also great boost to see Cirkin back, but not great to lose Ballard. It feels with Ballard out we almost start the season in worst shape than we ended it with players on the pitch. Obviously that is not accounting for how Le Bris will have impacted things. As it stands I think we look short. Striker situation is obvious. In addition though I still feel CB is a problem area. One of Ballard or ONien out and I worry. Maybe Hjelde will step up. I have real doubts about him, Seelt and Alese though at CB personally, certainly in a 2. I think we need to bring in a CB two be a real challenge to Ballard and ONien. I am ok with the wide areas, unless we lose Clarke. I dont see a natural replacement in the squad for him, but we can deal with that if he goes. We are vulnerable, in my opinion, to losing a key player like Ckarke and being unable to find a replacement. The later it runs the more vilulnerable we become. I think the next week or so is crucial to how we go this season. Players wise we look short to me for a top 6 challenge. Time to sort it, hope we do.
Be good to send us into the weekend with some positive news. I fear it will drag on until the last few days of the window however...
Yeah, confident we’ll get another couple in (more with a big sale) but I think it’ll be after the August bank holiday now.
I'm way more concerned about the lack of strikers than the coaching setup, Dodds is by all accounts a good coach just appears tactically useless. Time will tell what sort of input he will be allowed. It's far too early to know how things will pan out.
