Until Jan, yeah, but if you listen to Tan's interview he wasn't envisaged to come in as an immediate impact anyway. I'm sure they could pull out also, but doubt they will. Just see what we end up with by September 1st. Judge then. Top half this season, push on next. Hope for more, but that's the plan.
Most people were waxing lyrical about a midfield three of Traore-Seri-Tufan but fair enough if the club wasn't. Will be interesting to see now as we'll need two attacking midfielders to replace him and George. Suspect one will be a PL loan who can fill in until Traore is back.
Youre still thinkng in terms of the formation inherited from Grant. I doubt we'll play with a 10. Maybe a false 9, but given Honeyman was pushed wide when we got our best points return in the later stages of last season, might explain why he didn't fancy it and opted to move.
I think the idea will be to have plenty of options and flexibility. I know Tufan has played a lot in the defensive midfield role but you look at his last couple of years at Fenerbahce and he was putting up very good numbers. He was averaging a goal or assist every 193 minutes. To put that into perspective, KLP was averaging a goal or assist every 276. We aren't going to want to waste that ability
Dunno how you can wax lyrical until you've seen them on the park and they've had time to gel. What you can say is its a step up in quality 'on paper' - and in financial terms also. Which let's face it, is quite refreshing given where we've been.
Great stuff I know it's been frustrating to miss out on so many players but if you keep putting yourself out there and Acun keeps pitching with his usual enthusiasm and excitement then eventually some will come off. All the players linked/missed out on or even signed have all been players of real quality so it does make it easier to stomach but it starts to get more nervy when existing players like Honeyman and KLP shortly are leaving
Yeah was disappointing we kept missing out but in the end it might work out better, really excited about this one too
Regardless of how you want to view it, we brought Traore in and he's now injured, so we'll need another player to replace his role in the side. We've also now sold Honeyman, so will want to bring a player in to replace his spot in the squad. Whether that's literally to play the same role he did, or to have another option in the side, is semantics.
He's coming from a league which is without a doubt, better than ours, and it's pretty close to the French one, but it's a top 6 league and this kid was scoring goals for fun in it.. It's an amazing signing as long as it comes off
Free signing at the age of 25/26 is a great bit of business and very shrewd. Very happy with that one. Hopefully is able to hit the ground running. We tend to have these sorts of strikers go one of two ways and it's about getting their confidence up early.
Its very very rare you get a player stepping down in quality though. The foreign strikers we've had of late have always been stepping up. So I'm pretty optimistic, plus there's starting to be plenty of creativity in our side so he will get chances.
Maybe. But you don't go into a season playing a midfield 3 with only 5 on the books. There's more to come. Chill.
It seems we have been in talks at some level regarding Berat Özdemir, the player confirms talks have taken place at board level but he himself hasnt held talks. Berat Özdemir: "I would like to thank the President of Acun about Hull City. Every Turkish football player wants to play abroad. I did not meet. They met with our coach, Abdullah."
It's a big step up for him from a window cleaner, he should learn how to carry his ladders properly though.
