Zambrano is apparently going to start LDU’s game on Sunday so guess a deal isn’t particularly close. If even happening.
Read an article on Twitter saying it’s not completely over but we’re reluctant to pay the 3.5 million Francs to secure Millar. I thought the reported fee was higher then 3million anyway so not suggesting it’s reliable info but that’d concern me if that figure was a sticking point
In GBP that’s around £3,180,000. If that’s true, I don’t know who the club think they can get that’s of a similar calibre to Millar for less than that. If they did, we would’ve signed him already. This is what’s pissing me off and has been for weeks. We’ve supposedly identified targets that Walter wants, we’ve placed low-ball bids that have been rejected, the other clubs are being firm on their valuations of their players and we’re just haggling for what seems like ages instead of quickly moving onto other targets. Just over a week until the new season and we haven’t replaced Philogene, Greaves, several strikers from last season and the other wingers we had last season. Just over a week. I really feel for Walter because he’s doing everything he can during pre-season with what he has at his disposal to prepare the squad whilst the chairman and vice-chairman dither about and haggle over pennies.
How do you know all this ? You must have inside knowledge because nothing I’ve seen suggests this is true - is it frustrated guesses? Remember every player has a value not their value. - it’s what the buying club or the market will pay , they are not always the same . I will agree we should be able to pay that if true . I’ve worked in businesses when I’ve agreed a price for something major and the boss has told me to get it reduced or wouldn’t pay it .
pennies! £3M on Millar and £5M on Hughes. Thats probably half our player budget on 2 players with 8 more after them still needed. Plus you have no idea what Millers wage demands are. Doesnt look like you have to worry about the Ecudorian lad. He ain't coming.
not pennies, but accounting wise if they are given 3 year contracts from an FFP perspective that's 'only' 2.7m spend in year.....pass the straws please
It is frustrated guesses. I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. What I do know is that we’re just over a week away from the opening game of the season and we’re still two or three wingers, another striker, another centre-half and some extra bodies in midfield short at the very least. Our final pre-season friendly is tomorrow and our first-choice left-back that we’ve just signed for £4 million (and is still being linked with a move to Boro) hasn’t played left-back for the new manager at all in pre-season; he’s played left-wing because we hardly have any senior wingers at the club. I’m not trying to be negative for the sake of it but it doesn’t look great, does it?
Fair play. It’s refreshing to read your first two sentences; and also hard to disagree with the rest of it.
I know someone who currently works at the club and know others who have worked for the club in the last couple of years and since left. I get the odd titbit sometimes. I was told Greaves to West Ham was 90% done in April but Lopetegui apparently vetoed it when he came in because he wanted Kilman instead. I don’t know what’s going on right now behind the scenes regarding transfers though so I’m just a frustrated supporter. @Howdentiger2 @M88 EVN and @Steven Toast are all reliable when it comes to info that isn’t public knowledge. I wouldn’t have thought any of them share stuff on here just for ****s and giggles. If they share something and it turns out not to be the case, most of the time I’d wager it’s because the club have fallen at the final hurdle at getting it done like with Moore and Thomas-Asante. I’m not a huge fan of Baz Cooper but he gets a lot of flak for the same thing. He prints what he’s been told by the club he can print. If they told him Thomas-Asante was 99% done and he can break the story, that’s what he’ll do.
In January money didn’t seem to be a problem for these players, all be it on loan most of them. Now we seem to be working on a budget despite selling 3/4 players for a big amount of money. I’d start to question the chairmen’s long term goal. I guess we shall have to wait till the end of the window to analyse it correctly.
