Unsure about this one, but have to admit, haven't watched him play much last season. Would prefer we sign Ivan Fresneda or Mohamed Simakan ahead of Castagne personally.
More and more reliable journalists reporting this. Seems to be only a matter of time (fingers crossed no last minute hiccups).
This has to be one of the worst transfers we’ve ever made. Bought him for £72m and there’s a conceivable chance we terminate his contract and he leaves for nothing. Shocking bit of business.
Apparently we've only paid £28.8m out of that £72m as £10m was up front and the rest was based on apps, goals, champions league and trophies etc. It's still £28.8m of bad business, but it's not as bad as £72m
Guardian reporting that this deal is almost done now. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...100m-deal-for-west-ham-midfielder-declan-rice
I can't remember where I read it now, and a google search isn't showing it. The payments were structured in an up front (either £10m or £20m) and then performance related add-ons So the final figure could be anywhere between £30m and £50m but it isn't the £72m headline Either way, it's a terrible piece of business overall.
I can’t believe this is real. Absolutely not. I am praying this doesn’t come off. And can we please stop signing Chelsea players that they don’t want anymore?
Hope not - he's like an Ozil. Talented but I can't see the level of aggression, pressing and workrate needed in this side.
Rumours are that if we get the Rice deal done in the next few days Chelsea and Bayern will both launch bids for Caceido. That doesn't bother me - I think the ideal window for us would be Rice and Gundogan. (Plus a CB and a FW.)
It just gets worse and worse. Why are we entertaining this? Am I missing something? What does he offer that makes him worth considering to buy?
It's a strange one. He's done very little at Chelsea, 1 in 5 record last season which is pretty woeful for a forward. He's a technically gifted player, but he's shown very little of the player he was at Leverkusen since he's been in the PL Arteta obviously thinks he can get the best out of him, but there's no way we should be paying anything over around £20m-£25m for him
If it’s a cut price deal that doesn’t affect our ability to reinforce the areas we need, I don’t mind taking him for that price. However, Chelsea are asking for £75m (not gonna happen), so I feel like if we were to get him, we’d have to meet somewhere in the middle around £45m-£55m. Which I don’t think is worth it. Obviously if we get him, I’d support him as he’d be an Arsenal player, but I’m not optimistic he’d succeed for us.
Also Haverts basically occupies a similar role as ESR - Not sure how Emile is going too get game time at this point.
Chelsea need to sell to comply with FFP so they aren't going to be in the best position to be demanding silly money for him He's still only 24 so he's got potential to develop further, which I think he'd do under Arteta. But we shouldn't be busting the bank to get him. If we can add him as a decent squad option for around £25m then I'd be keen.
