But he wasn’t playing. But he was with us a year and being coached by us for a year before his recent drop in form. So perhaps it is form rather than coaching in this case?

Yes he was. He played 12 games at the back end of last season and most games this season building up his improvement in form. And in-between he had a summer pre season of coachingBut he wasn’t playing.
Yes, but not as our main striker. 19y old and 3 sub appearances.Yes, i know it's the Echo, but what do people make of this? I feel like it's someone i should get excited about, but really don't know a lot about him. Pep obviously rates him highly but would you be happy with him as our main striker next season?

I'd have him over Alex Mccarthy any dayYou must log in or register to see media
His contract is expiring and Alex’s isn’t. It was arguably a mistake to extend Alex’s contract but it was done under previous ownership where we would have been in a real sticky situation if we rolled into the summer with all our keepers leavingI'd have him over Alex Mccarthy any day
I'm happy with McCarthy staying provided he's backup. I hope the keeper we sign is first team ready. His contract is expiring and Alex’s isn’t. We should have probably realised that no one was going to offer McCarthy equal or better terms than what we were offering / what he wanted but it wasn’t a gamble we clearly felt we could make at the time. Who knows if he’d have got annoyed at being made to wait until april / May for an extension? Or if he’d thought we were desperate and demanded more last minute
What I am saying it that, in my opinion, the decision to extend Alex’s contract is not as clear cut a mistake as implied
I would expect many here agree with that. The rumours are all over the place with many suggesting otherwise. But some don’t. The recent link to the Polish guy with the crazy beard for example - he’d be first team ready. The guy who has been on loan at Portsmouth - not so muchI'm happy with McCarthy staying provided he's backup. I hope the keeper we sign is first team ready.
