Salisu could be amazing at a higher-midtable team, with the right coaching.

Unfortunately he doesn’t suit Ralph’s high-line, quick pressing, type of defending. Too slow for it. Our worst player during our recent bad run.
Sadly true. As Silly Sue's performances floundered, Fraser stepped up - not sure which was more bizarre

For me, the most consistent high-performer through this Ralph-led end of season debacle is KWP. For me, Saints player of the season.

The sign of a truly good footballer; when they can play more than one position effortlessly.

KWP - left back
JWP - right back

Our best two players.

He’s been playing Bundesliga and Serie A for over 5 years. Hardly a nobody.

It’s not like we’re signing him from China or South Africa.

He's a smidge better than Ely on paper over the last season and pretty much on par across the last few. Not sure how much you can read into that given the respective leagues. I don't think he will be an instant upgrade.

Jesper Karlsson from AZ would be a more exciting option. Same age, same foot, same style, similar market value but 11 assists and 15 goals compared to 6/3. He's under contract till 2026 tho.

And anyone who is interested will be looking at this ^^^ He was excellent & then (now) crap. We know he’s got great potential.

But he was with us a year and being coached by us for a year before his recent drop in form. So perhaps it is form rather than coaching in this case?

Yes, i know it's the Echo, but what do people make of this? I feel like it's someone i should get excited about, but really don't know a lot about him. Pep obviously rates him highly but would you be happy with him as our main striker next season?

Yes all day long. Year long loan please. No option to buy is fine. In the meantime bring in a striker we can bring up to speed.

Shame, he's started to become rather good at them.

It's definitely an interesting tactic. Hasn't worked yet, but you can see how it would work...we probably need more players lurking around the edge, looking to collect a second ball and move it quickly to a less-congested area for a shot. There have been times when we accomplished the first part of that equation, but then stood on the ball, largely defeating the purpose.

It did work against Spurs when JWP fired home from the edge of the box after a poor clearance. And it definitely caused Palace problems in our last home game. He seemed to throw it longer in that game as well.

True, I had forgotten that JWP's goal orignated from a throw. There have been a couple times where the clearance ended up at the 90 angle of the box and a wide player (Redmond is the one I can remember) decided to eye down their marker after retrieving the ball, allowing the defense time to reset...playing the ball back to the edge for someone to thwack i(and JWP is probably the right man for the job) is almost always going to be on there, but only if you do it quickly.
