... so true ... and Mark Wallington is probably one of the mist underrated keepers, if not footballers, of all time ...
just changing the subject, I don't get all these reports of "the players have agreed terms' ala Maddison, Tielemans and now Fofana'. What happened to seeking permission from the club to talk to a player under contract? Surely even in these days of super agents there is still protocol.
It's complete bollocks ... wishful London press speculation and so called "in the know" experts ... an approach to the player outside permission from the club would constitute an illegal approach...
while much of it , like most football reporting these days , will be bollocks it is fairly obvious that clubs regularly agree an outline of a players wage demands before making any offer ..... and yes it isn't allowed but all do it .
According to the press so far we are losing Tielemans to Arsenal, Man United, Spurs etc. Fofana to Chelsea Maddison to Newcastle Ndidi to Man United Kasper to Nice Bit of a rebuild will be needed then I can't see Fofana, Maddison or Ndidi going in this window - but we do need the Tielemans situation sorted for either stability or to release funds
Agreed ... and we don't 'need' to replace Kaspar ... if Iversen isn't ready to step up now, he never will be ...
Do you think Iverson would be No 1 over ward? Perhaps they'd share for a season? I'm surprised ward hasn't moved on for regular have time.
I think it's there for the taking ... time to step up and be bold ... liked what I've seen overall from both Iversen and Stolarcyzk in the pre-seasons
Why haven't we told Newcastle (and everyone else) that Maddison isn't for sale? We can't possibly be contemplating selling him at this point in the transfer window.
Brendan said the offer they've made just about covers 3/4 of his left leg and he's not for sale. In more miserable news, he also said Ricardo may have a serious achilles injury. Forfana has a groin muscle injury and Barnes knee will need to be monitored. Another successful last pre season match injury report
If Fofana does go to Chelsea and we take players in return, Chalobah, Colwill and Gallagher could really help to shape our squad…
So according to reports, we will be losing the following this week: Kasper Fofana Vardy Tielemans Barnes Maddison I tell you what, sell Ndidi and a couple of others, then fold the club and we can all have Saturday afternoon's shopping with the missus!!!!!!!!!!
As for those above, it sounds bad but I’m not sure it’s as bad as people say it is Tielemans - we all know the situation. We have KDH and Praet there so the sooner we get some money and it’s no longer hanging over the better Schemichel - time for a natural successor. Might even help our set pieces. Fofana - terrific player. Huge fee would be involved Maddison and Barnes - disaster but can’t see either going Vardy - don’t think for a minute this will happen but we got through most of last year without him and I have confidence in Daka - particularly a 5-3-2 with Ihenacho partnering him
The legal bill facing Vardy's missus might swing that move, but it surely won't bring in massive bucks for the club. I hope we keep him because, unless Daka has developed a better understanding and better movement over the pre-season, I don't yet have enough faith in him to be an adequate replacement. One disappointment is not having been able to get Lookman in on a deal. We will miss his directness and speed.
The talk of Dennis Praet leaving seems to have quietened down. He will be like a new signing if he stays and while not like Lookman I can see him taking that spot on the right ahead of Albrighton. Great player so hopefully he and his family can settle which I read was the problem.
