Here is what I think will happen. Josh Magennis and Patrick Bauer will be sold on transfer deadline day. We will not have time to bring in a forward replacement But Elliott Ward and Simon Dawkins will be brought in on frees.
If that happens we can certainly forget a top 6 push. I've pretty much given up on that anyway this coming season. A couple of quality season long loanees (as good as Dasilva) would help us remain in the '7th to 12th place ' second quarter of the league table, but I doubt that Charlton will find anybody as good as Dasilva again.
Josh Magennis is close to joining Bolton. So it begins. https://lionofviennasuite.sbnation....nderers-close-in-on-charlton-athletic-striker From Rich Cawley. cafc have agreed a fee with Bolton Wanderers for Josh Magennis. #bwfc
I understand a fee has been agreed. However, agreeing a fee is not the completion of a player move if I understand correctly. It could still fall through. Curious too, I thought Bolton players were on strike because they have not been paid. How can a football Club that doesn't even pay its own staff find the money to buy a new player? And should it even be allowed to do so?
27th July update; Players in / out at other League One Clubs Barnsley ... 1 new signing Shrewsbury Town ... 1 new signing Wycombe Wanderers ... 1 new signing
Talk is that Ajose will also be moved on b4 transfer deadline day (probably on it!), that would leave us with Taylor, Grant, Fatokele & Billy Clarke up front.... so we would start the season with just two fit strikers..... If it were me I would see if we could loan Ivan Toney off Rafa until the new year.
We are already short of numbers and every transfer window we sell one or two players to leave the squad even shorter. This window is no different. We will maybe get a couple of loans in but I wouldn't hold your breath.
If you remember last season Argyle went through keepers like Wayne Rooney in a grannies care home. Not exactly an out for us but you couldn't make this up after last season. We loaned a keeper from Wolves who was going to be season long and our No.1. They went to Holland for a week training and guess what..................the keeper broke his ankle in a training session. Here we go again.
28th July update; Players in / out at other League One Clubs Bradford City ... 1 new signing Scunthorpe United ... 1 new signing ... 1 player out
29th July update; Players in / out at other League One Clubs Peterborough United ... 1 player out (to Sunderland AFC) Sunderland AFC ... 1 new signing (from Peterborough United)
There is interest from abroad for Nicky Ajose. Ajose has interest from abroad. #cafc already looking to bring in another striker but won't be targetman type to replace Magennis, more one that can play wider role too if needed. It looks like Baeur is staying. https://www.londonnewsonline.co.uk/...on-defender-bauer-as-german-offered-new-deal/
Good news that Bauer is staying. I wonder if he has been offered more than two years? At present as far as I know, no Charlton player has a contract running beyond summer 2020.
30th July update; Players in / out at other League One Clubs Coventry City ... 1 player out Doncaster Rovers ... 1 player out Fleetwood Town ... 1 new signing Peterborough United ... 1 new signing Plymouth Argyle ... 1 new signing Sunderland AFC ... 1 new signing (from Wycombe Wanderers) Wycombe Wanderers ... 1 player out (to Sunderland AFC)
Bowyer is getting on my nerves a bit. He can't honestly think the squad is large enough and coming out and saying if Taylor was bought after magennis was sold it'd be different. Plus saying that hopefully our injury woes are behind us... its all a bit farcical.
