It looks like we are to lose talented left back Enda Stevens on a free transfer to first division new boys Sheffield United. According to Paul Cook, via The News site, we cannot compete on the level of wages being offered by United.
Sad news indeed if we see him go. Not going to be easy to replace.

We are apparently being linked with 21 year old winger/striker George Williams from Fulham. He has been on loan to MK Dons this season. Full Welsh international. Also wanted by Burton, Charlton and Plymouth.

Personally, I would rather we signed Mark McNulty from Sheffield Utd., who have just released him on a free transfer. Still only 24 years of age , and he scored 10 goals in 27 appearances whilst on loan to us in 2015/2016.

My understanding is that reprobate poster and serial wind-up merchant, SingingBlue3 has been let go after his contract was terminated by mutual contempt, er, consent.
He was last seen heading towards Ringwood muttering something about "quadruped adjustment"
He will be deeply missed next season, where his perennial favourite thread "why oh why won't they go down" will to be composed by someone else. Pompey fans will be hoping the board manage to sign a replacement with a more internationalist outlook.

PFC have 3 very good centre-backs. If Paul Cook watched the outstading Juventus side last night, Chelsea and so on, he might favour a 3-5-2 formation. I am sure more and more sides will try to replicate Juve and Chelsea now that they have seen it in action.

Pompey now being linked with 26 year old Swindon Town left back Nathan Thompson, available on a free transfer.

Ipswich, Charlton, QPR and Rotherham are also allegedly interested in the player.

Veteran skipper Michael Doyle is on the verge of rejoining Coventry City on a free transfer. His young family live in the Midlands, so this move should suit him well.

Thank you Michael for helping to achieve promotion. If we can sign up Stanley Aborah, then along with Danny Rose, Amine Linganzi, Ben Close and Adam May, we would be well prepared for next season.

According to the "Cambridge News", Cambridge United midfielder Luke Berry is being chased by up to three League One clubs, according to reports.

League Two champions Portsmouth, MK Dons and League One play-off finalists Millwall are all seemingly keeping tabs on the 24 year old.

It's no wonder he's drawing attention from leagues above as Berry has just completed his best season yet with Cambridge, scoring 22 goals from in 52 appearances.

Could be the kind of player we should sign - Cookie loves his goalscoring midfielders !

According to the "Portsmouth News", POMPEY are eyeing a reunion with Marc McNulty.

Paul Cook is keeping tabs on the one-time Blues loanee who is a free agent following his Sheffield United release.

McNulty was a popular Fratton Park figure during the 2015-16 season, finishing as top scorer with 12 goals.

Pompey were interested in making the switch a permanent one last summer, yet new Blades boss Chris Wilder insisted the Scot still had a Bramall Lane future.

However, it has been a season of frustration for the 24-year-old, despite his team taking the League One title to reach the Championship.

With his contract expiring this summer, McNulty is now up for grabs – and the Blues are keen to tempt him back to the south coast.

It is understood Bristol Rovers are also interested in the striker and are prepared to financially trump any other suitors, including Pompey.

Cook, though, is desperate to bolster his strikeforce, with Curtis Main’s future unclear, Eoin Doyle’s loan spell ending and uncertainty over the ongoing presence of Michael Smith.

Having previously worked with McNulty, the Blues boss remains a fan of the talent which reaped 12 goals in 34 matches in a campaign which saw Pompey eliminated in the play-off semi-finals at Plymouth.

The forward’s finest moment was a hat-trick in the 6-0 humbling of York in November 2015 – only his fourth appearance for the club.

McNulty spent the first half of this season on loan at Bradford City, scoring once in 16 appearances, although was mainly used as a substitute for the League One outfit.

Upon his Blades return in January, he made just three appearances and failed to score as they clinched the title with an outstanding haul of 100 points.

To my mind, just the player we need in attack. Then rid ourselves of Noel Hunt/Michael Smith and Curtis Main.

Rumours surfacing that Kyle Bennett is leaving. Don't know how true that is, he was quoted last week as saying his family love it here and he wants to stay.

Gutted about Stevens - really quality player - Doyle I totally get but we were slow off the mark there. Bennett would be a big loss too. Nervous that the takeover stuff is blocking up implementing anything concrete.

News coming from Preston that Cookie wants to sign permanently Eoin Doyle. Not sure if a fee will be involved ? Didn't impress me much last season, but probably better suited to Division One, with his type of play.

As Marc McNulty has signed for Coventry City, Eoin might be a decent signing for us, with his experience.

Reserve keeper Liam O'Brien has not been offered new terms by PFC, so has followed Michael Doyle to Coventry City on a two year contract.

Coventry have also been apparently showing interest in attacking midfielder Carl Baker who still has a year of his existing contract to run.

Jeez, next will they will make an official approach for Barry Harris - who will be able to recover lost balls then ?!?

Jason Lowe has been linked with a move to Pompey on a free after leaving Blackburn Rovers. He is 25, 5' 10" in height, and can play at right back/midfield/defensive midfield. Has made 172 appearances for Rovers having come through their academy. Has been capped by England at both Under 20 and Under 21 level.
