I do hope Suarez is the leagues leading this scorer. No ones run off with it like RVP last year, and Suarez is well in the hunt with 6 (possible 7) league goals so far. Suarez getting the golden boot will teach some people a lesson.
Big dilemma if he does get it though. How can you feel the need to buy a first choice #9 if Suarez outscores the likes of Van Persie, Rooney, Torres, Giroud and Cisse from that position?
Because it will show we are still over reliant on one person to score our goals (on the assumption no one else hits double figures). Suarez will score goals because he creates so many for himself and others do as well. He'll have game like today/Norwich where he'll stick a few away then he'll have games like Reading when he will miss a hatful. What you need is someone that get's 2 goals every 3 games (1 in one, 0 in another, 1 in another) rather than what Suarez does which is score 2 in 1 game then not score for 3 games, then get another 2 etc.
It will be especially sweet to rub it in to all the muppets who said he isn't a natural goalscorer before the season started. You know who you are.
Not bitching here MFG (& as usual don't expect a response) but he's not a "natural" goal scorer based on his chances to score ratio but its a silly stat anyway because he creates his own which he either converts or doesn't as opposed to say a Owen who relied on the pass from others but converted more consistently. Arguing over a point that's too narrow. He does need more support though.
He isn't and finishing as top scorer won't change that opinion. Being a natural goal scorer means you are good at finishing instinctively, Suarez is not. To a degree, he is a hit and hope player! The sooner he starts placing shots the better
In the long run Suarez will play as a false 9 with the wide forwards and Shelvey grabbing a lot of the goals.
Yeah it will teach other clubs in the champions league to come and buy him!!!!! I'm a toon fan so I'm hoping Cisse and Ba keep taking turns or they same goes mate.
I think it will be Van Persie top scorer. Suarez dribbles like Lionel messi but finishes like Emile Heskey, otherwise he would be one of the best strikers in the world.
I remember Ronnie Moran telling Robbie he should have scored more after his 5 goal debut. He'd have a field day with Suarez. Skillful as he is he simply isn't a natural goalscorer. However...if he does finish top scorer I will happily sit here and let you shout "muppet" in my general direction...and having taken the admonishment like the man that I am I will then tell you what a great job young Brendan Rodgers has done in getting the best from our most useful player...and proceed to shout "muppet" in your general direction Fair enough?
Suarez is fantastic to watch, always something happening. I still don't see him as a natural goalscorer though despite his 6 goals so far, though he has a good opportunity to be the top scorer not least because i see him starting every PL game for you this season whereas every other striker in the mix for it will probably be rotated out for some games. There are some players who once you saw they were one-on-one with the keeper you simply knew the back of the net was going to bulge, for Newcastle I'd say Shearer and Ferdinand were the only two players we've had like that in the last 20 years. Suarez is 50-50, more likely he'll miss the one-on-one and then smash in a cracker from the edge of the box a minute later.
