What would you do if he stays because no club makes the right offer when it gets to game 7 and his ban is over? Especially if Sturridge, Aspas and Coutinho are all doing their jobs.

If it gets to game seven then he is here until January anyway, the window will be closed!

It would certainly be interesting to see our reaction if he stayed, scored 30 goals and we finished above the Gooners.

Still think he'll leave, but you can't be sure. I stopped worrying about this some time ago- I'm enjoying watching it as a sociological study.
As Spock would say-

I remembered the point that Talk Sport said; why offer the large pot of money to Suarez in an attempt to win things when they could have given RvP the money instead...?

While I agree in general I think removing the fan equation altogether doesn't help either. You skipped the bit about HOW they became millionaires in the first place.

Call it exploitation rather than blame if you will but for example Ronaldo and Beckhams fees over the years weren't solely for what they could do on the pitch it was what they could sell in the superstores or what people would buy because they were attached to it.

And when that runs into millions that's when they demand millions. And when a player is worth millions its impossible to just dump a troublesome player which means there is no check on their behaviour. Which lead to demands for their rights as employees (not slaves) while still exploiting the fact they are still assets, objects to be owned which lead to the Bosman ruling....

But tell me if we all didn't buy the name with a shirt (rather than the shirt with a name) in our thousands, if we didn't buy the aftershaves etc etc do you think the clubs would value the assets as much money wise? Now as you say the CL etc is what the big sponsors pay millions for but again it's circular why? Because the CL has all those players that sell the shirts and aftershaves and they want to hang on the coat tails.

But who buys it all? We do. We continue to idolise them but worse continue to prove to the cold hearted businessmen that we'll buy anything they're selling. But it is US that controls the buying. We do have a choice. It's us that makes the match day ticket the least important part of a clubs finances. Which yes fits into your reasonable dislike for the non local supporter. For many of them their only way to show their support, to prove their love for the club is to buy the merchandise. I'd suggest being told they're not real supporters doesn't help lol.

Perfect example: it's been obvious to anyone that Suarez doesn't give a stuff about us even before the interview but he sulks into Gerard's testimonial and what does he get? Silence, boos? No he gets cheers, no response, no recognition of the fans? he gets more cheers....and why? Fear: the club will be less without him, translated? Individual above club.

You even have people ok person (i can only assume he's representative of a section of us) who is posting that its everybody else's fault but the players because he can't help who he is but everybody else is a calculating evil empire? Please.

Suarez epitomises how it is the fan who forgives any behaviour, we defended him for two years against everything and anything and now Arsenal fans will do the same or Madrid fans or whoever and if we forgive and put no pressure on the business men why would they not keep the cash cow?

So no we aren't to blame for nasty business men and their cunning plans but we are to blame for falling for it.

This. It amazes me how fans can be so forgiving even when they are being taken for a ride or despised by player and/or club.

It cannot be right that the impression is given that a player is essential to a club's welfare. The way Suarez has been defended for his many misdemeanours could be put down to a club rallying round their own although some would say that it went well beyond what was reasonable and was too soft with him.

Suarez in his own mind instead of being grateful to his club for defending him thought that this must show that he is ESSENTIAL to his club and that no one can touch him. The fans are given the impression that he is as big as the club itself.

Also Gerrard was very misguided in stating so publicly that the season rests with Suarez when there is so much uncertainty about his presence at the club. Again the fans are given the subtle and not so subtle hint that everything should be done to keep Suarez sweet. They would even cheer him when they know he doesn't want to play for the club <doh>

So I am afraid the club, the players (Gerrard ) and the fans must take SOME responsibility for the disdain he holds the club in.

Tobes - you say fans worship the players, that picking out of an individual is exploited by - whoever, how can you then not apportion some of the blame on the fans?

The Reds boss is unhappy with the attitude shown by the Uruguay international - who seems intent on forcing a move to Arsenal - in recent weeks and has been told to train on his own.

Rodgers rejected Suarez's claim he had reneged on an agreement last summer which would allow the player to leave for a Champions League club, saying interviews given by the 26-year-old suggesting as much showed "total disrespect" to the club.

However, Suarez remains determined to find a way out of Anfield and admits even captain Steven Gerrard's pleas for him to stay cannot offset the lure of the Champions League, while also reiterating he would jump at the chance to go to Real Madrid.

"I'm still defending the Liverpool shirt and I will do so until the last minute," Suarez, who was left at home for Wednesday night's friendly against Valerenga in Norway because of injury and is unlikely to feature against Celtic in Dublin on Saturday, told Spanish newspaper Marca.

"My aim is to reach an agreement with the club in a friendly manner and I hope the clause we agreed a year ago is fulfilled. Up to now, it hasn't been.

"It's not that I want to or am desperate to leave, but I like things to be clear and a year ago I made my position to the club clear.

"Gerrard has a lot of history with Liverpool and his words are very important but everyone should understand that I need to play the Champions League to keep growing as a footballer.

"Now I have the chance, I want to take it.

"A Champions League team (Arsenal) is making a big effort to get me and one always wants to be where they feel comfortable.

"There were a lot of rumours (about Real) that were different to reality: Madrid never called me personally or Liverpool to try and negotiate.

"Every player aspires to reach the top and Real Madrid is among the most important clubs in the world. It would be very difficult to say no to Real Madrid."

So you're saying you have no control as a fan Tobes? Wouldn't have thought that of you.

You're saying (your arguments) that although football is no longer about the football and purely about money, that club hierarchies don't care about fans, players don't care about fans, that the modern day club doesn't participate or include their local community and instead panders to a global market of TV companies and product placement?

Then what exactly are you "supporting" today: a memory?

You can talk about the good old days all you want but that according to you no longer exists as a football club.

So in effect when you say you're a supporter you're really a class reunion attendee?

Or do you think that as supporters we can do something about it, by, as I suggested being selective buyers. I mean if the thing you support no longer holds any element (other than displaying a primary colour) you have 3 choices; walk away with your memories of what it was; embrace the gaudy commercialism in all its last days of the Roman Empire, giving up you're right to complain or start exerting pressure in the most effective way: don't buy merchandise, don't buy sky, don't buy a ticket until the money falls away and the club returns to a small local football event.

I mean if we don't express our principles as fans and customers where it matters then do we actually hold those principles? And if not then what are we whining about?
