So Luis Suarez has been banned for 10 matches. I know it was a disgaceful incident but is the length of ban a bit harsh? Maybe 6 - 8 matches would have been fairer. I don't know what consistency, if any, there is by the FA when it comes to handing out punishments to players. Already Alan Pardew is questioning why it is Mcmanaman(sp) from Wigan got away with his career threating tackle against the Newcastle player but Suarez gets a 10 match ban. And, of course, we all know that Terry received a meagre 3 match ban for the Anton Ferdinand 'racist' incident. I just think that Suarez has been treated harshly in comparison to the other 2 incidents I have mentioned and I think Liverpool have grounds to lodge an appeal. I am not condoning what Suarez did on Sunday but...
PP - Would it still be harsh if it transpired that Suarez had HIV or hepatitis or something just as nasty and transferred the virus to another player by biting them? I know it is not that probably but nor is it an impossibility, so my view is that biting is far worse a "crime" than the others you have highlighted purely for the potential consequences.
Football like Rugby is a contact sport, some things you can expect, spitting and biting are NOT included. Rugby players get banned for 18 months!! Off the pitch Suarez would be in jail. 10 matches - in my opinion, not enough, second time he has done it!! Oh, but it's a cultural thing load of nonsense, Gus Poyet does not go around biting people, nor to my knowledge did Arismendis. Of course there is a typical Liverpudlian excuse, it's all the fault of the media. We are scousers and we are salt of the earth - yea right.
Fair comments, Thai and ONB and he does have previous. Despite his obvious footballing ability, Suarez has a mental problem and his behaviour is too often being called into question. Liverpool seem afraid to show him the door but IMO he would not be missed. I am still annoyed, however, that slime ball Terry got away with what he did and got no more than a standard ban of 3 games.

I don't think it's harsh, as Nick said, it's something that just shouldn't go on. There are some awful tackles that go under or unpunished, but tacking is part of the game, biting is not, and it's not the first time he's done it.

Liverpool seem reluctant to show him the door but he is a liabilty for them and IMO he would not be missed if he left, despite his obvious footballing ability. I think, however, I am still annoyed that the Terry got away with what was a standard 'red card' ban for what he did.
Luis Suarez should be serving an international ban, both club and country, of 18 months. Brendan Rodgers should be ashamed of himself for trying to play it down. That sort of behaviour belongs in the gutter. Maybe he should be taking a differing view of the world, from behind bars. I despise all that he stands for, good footballer or not.
I don't think it's harsh as Nick said.. Rugby player's get longer bans so be it. BUT that tackle by the Wigan player was IMO horrendous.. how or WHY the FA didn't step in and ban him is stupid... Also noticed Suarez when we hammered Liverpool he certainly has a mental problem only HE cans sort that out... his attitude SUCKS. I have a nine year old grandson who knows that YOU don't BITE another person. I also thought Liverpool may have been wise to ban him before the FA stepped in. To fine him means nothing at all.
Can you imagine the vitriol had a Stoke player done this instead of a liverpool luvvy. BR and the rest of the apologists would be howling for extreme punishments. Why? because they perceive that Stoke have (recent) history of dirty/foul play - well here's the news SO DOES SUAREZ
Tosh Of course they would.. Arsenal fans in particular and you know why of course.. good luck for the remaining fixtures. <ok
