It's a gamble. Cazorla probably isn't feeling too great right now and he's a quality player; he hears promises of top quality big spending and so far has seen nothing. He'll go next summer at this rate. Fab left once because of no ambition and he stills sees none (as of yet). Persuading 2/3 world class players to all join on the basis that the other 2 will is...optimistic.
my thread is not based on the press just hard facts from a guy on the inside. one or two on here know what im on about the others can just read what they want into my threads
There hasn't been anything in a direct interview about Arsenal so I'll not add that to the list. He's on my **** list for being a snivelling git that wants to leave. So no longer a real Liverpool player in my book. I'll take his goals seeing as we're paying highly for just that but he's not a Liverpool player cause he doesn't. Want to be. Just like the other dude. Words from their own mouths. The rest is just hyped up bollox.
The vast part of the 'heat' in this whole sorry saga has been either created by or generated by the media. We truly know that Arsenal made 2 offers. We truly know that Liverpool rejected them. We truly know that John Henry posted his famous tweet. We truly know that both Rodgers and Wenger have made some statements. Apart from that we have no facts whatsoever. We don't know if Suarez was ever interested in joining Arsenal. We don't know if there had been any communication (formal or informal) between Liverpool and Madrid. We have had a lot of media speculation dressed to look like either fact or informed opinion. I strongly doubt that Suarez ever wanted to go to Arsenal. I believe Ian Ayre when e says that Suarez is not for sale. I believe that Arsenal will not go beyond their £40.000,001 offer. But until the window closes none of us can be sure.
One of the best comments about this saga so far. Most of these "evolving facts" have come from journalists. No source. Their only sources? Other journalists. Unless we have hired some hack from the papers I don't recall journalists being in the know. They are supposed to report on information - not create it. Liverpool and Suarez have released very little directly. The most damning evidence was when Suarez spoke to radio reporters in Uruguay, which in context summed up to "if a CL club like Real come in I hope Liverpool consider it". We know a bid has been made by Arsenal. We know that 40m+1 was so ludicrous that it prompted our owner to publicly mock the offer. We don't know anything else because everything else has been invented. People don't understand that. They think "there's no smoke without a fire". "Oh all the papers have quoted unnamed sources - there must be some truth to this". There isn't! There is absolutely no integrity to journalism anymore. None. The good auld days of Pulitzers and truth seeking are gone. Thousands of youth graduate every year with degrees into a dying field where the only guaranteed job is the one that sells papers. They will lie out of their teeth just to stir up interest and ad-clicks. If you don't see a quote from a named source, 99% of the time it is completely unfounded. The source is another journalist. So I reserve judgement on Suarez. I was critical of him earlier this summer but I realised I was just falling for it again. We will see what happens. It is August and the club is silent.
How hard would it be for suarez to have a press release stating he dosn't wish to leave or only leave if the club are happy with the offer. Just a little something to appease the fans who once loved him. The reason he dosn't is because he couldn't give a **** about the club or the fans.
good plan he never opens his mouth until he's in U R GAY! There's an internationl jsut before the season starts? Are URGAY playing and is he suspended still? If not i fancy every press hound in england to be on tenderhooks waiting for the quote to damn our season. So I was right then lads. the thing today in the press was some hound askign the FA and saying they told him no such application was made.
I can't say where I heard it but it wasnt the press. PMK <rip> and luv if he can recall know where I get some of my info.
Without doubt, signing those two would vastly improve your chances of winning trophies. However, do you not think your defence needs attention? You also need a keeper IMO (Bergovic?)
I believe we had the 2nd best defencive record in the league last season and other than a few individual mistakes (usualy by a player who had been out of the team for a while) we looked quite good at the back. We have good depth for both LB and RB and 3 Solid CB's. With Vermaelen currently injured and only Miquel for cover for mert/kosc, since we have shipped out squillaci and djourou, i wouldn't be against bringing in one more defender for cover, but Sagna can play CB if required so i'm not too worried. A striker, a CM/DM and a LWF as i think Gervinho is possibly on his way out are the key areas i believe Arsenal need to strengthen. Then possibly a Defender depending on how Miquel is comming along, he has been given alot of game time in pre-season so he may be ready to take the step up this season in which case we are fine at the back. At GK i think it's obvious our young pole is our number 1 and flappy isn't as terrible as he is made out to be for a second choice keeper. If we sign a keeper it will most likely either be a very experienced GK to give competition for the number 1 shirt to keep szcs on his feet, or it will be athird choice keeper as we are a little low on GK's at the moment i believe. I highly doubt we will bring in a keeper to be first choice.
Fab and Suarez are two up in the air wishes at the moment, given the clock is ticking, Wenger should looking for quality that absolutely wants to come to Arsenal. He should have went in with a solid bid for Madrid's Argie Higuain and offered nice personal terms and made it clear Arsenal wanted him, he faffed and the guy went to Napoli. Now the same thing with Suarez, if he just makes the offer Liverpool they will accpet he can then talk to Suarez about personal terms, and at the very least we can actually find out if Suarez wants to go there AND if Wenger and Arsenal has any real intention to spend. AS MITO and others said, 99% of what's going on is media generated porkie pies.
The problem with Arsenal is they haven't shown any intent early in the window - as far as I know they haven't signed anyone? If they had already made a couple of high profile signings (Wenger publicly said he had enough money to do so) then Suarez may have been tempted - now it looks like they've put all their eggs in one basket, and Suarez must be thinking joining a team with no improvements is pointless, especially as the teams around the top 6 have made improvements. I wouldn't be surprised if Bale goes to Madrid, Spurs may come in for him?? Spurs have been active and would have the money to spend. It could actually turn out that the Spurs project with the Bale money spent could turn them into title contenders....that's a ****ing horrible thought!
Why would he..they have no CL football to offer either. Ok they may have more prospect of it at the moment but it would be as pointless a move as going to arsenal. I honestly feel he will stay now unless a foreign club come in with big money offer. However, it would be good if he released some statement saying what his situation is. I hope he starts Saturday (don't think he will) and scores I really want to see his reaction .
