So, apart from the obvious (which is that he is an irritating arse), what was Suarez booked for on Saturday? Anyone on here with the refereeing knowledge to say? Vin
The referee indicated that he thought he'd touched the ball whilst getting in Boruc's way, but I think he'd just finally lost patience. There is now a special law where you can get booked just for being Suarez.
When the keeper has the ball in his hands you can't challenge the clearance if he's kicking the ball straight from his hands. He wasn't letting Boruc clear the ball unchallenged.
It is against the rules to dance around the keeper with your hands in the air when he's trying to kick it out, even if you don't touch him or the ball. It is unsporting conduct. Just like shouting at an opponent to put them off, it's not something you see often, but it counts as foul play.
The ref indicated the hand, but he could have meant that Boruc had the ball in his hand. I think he had run out of patience with Suarez.
As Jos said (when asked directly about Player of Year voting) he may not get players votes because of his antics on the pitch. Jos voted for RVP...quelle surprise!
The lino certainly thought if it's Suarez he must be offside. Perhaps he thought you were offside if your ego got ahead of the defence.
Did anyone else notice the irony that we've been hoping for that yellow or a card in general in the run-up to both Saints' games against Liverpool this season, and he finally gets it in the dying seconds of our game...?
After being almost completely ineffectual during the game. Just think, if he had been banned for Saturday, Rodgers would have had to play Shelvey or someone else who might have actually caused our defence more problems than Suarez did.
