Ive said on a couple of threads that since we signed Sturridge that IMO we now need a 10 more than we need a wing forward or a 9

With our most likely signings being Ince and Gameiro b4 the window shuts, and Suarez playin 10 2nd half today and almost lookin a better 10 than a nine , Uniteds CMs and CBs didnt know what the f**k to do, he gave them a torrid time, Mourinho must have been licking his lips at the space in between the midfield and the back 4, so much so , Fergie spent more time watchin his watch than the match

Is BRs plan to play Luis at 10 for the rest of the season, if it is, I think its a good one

I would say the front 3 (whoever they will be) - assuming BR sticks to 4-3-3 will interchange. Almost giving Suarez the free role, making sure the other 2 keep an eye on his movement, supporting and filling in the spaces as and when needed.

Rodgers did say that he wants a number 10 and this will most likely come in the summer - as the January window was more about improving the front 3.

Firstly - cover for Lucas, someone who can physically impose themself on the game. We need a bit of steel - rumours are that Moussa Sissoko is available for £3m and that would be perfect.

Secondly - the number 10 is desperately needed. Suarez can play this role but I rather he was in the front 3. We need a player who can take the ball, high up the pitch, comfortable in possession in limited space and still be able to pick out a pass. A lot of reporters (Echo and The Times) believe Christian Eriksen is the number 1 target for the summer, and LFC have scouted him extensively for quite some time. I think there are number of positions that need sorting out and the midfield is the most important place.

With regards to Suarez - he could start as a number 10, number 9 or as a winger. But that won't stop him from roaming around the pitch and getting the ball in any position. Much has been made about moving Suarez to accomodate Suarez but I don't think we will see any difference in the way he plays or the way impacts the game.

Sissoko & Eriksen would be very welcome!! Good shouts but I will be very surprised if the latter chooses to come to us, assuming we do make a move for him. I'd add a player akin to Walcott and a decent LB to the list as we are light there.

Sissoko is almost a no brainer in my opinion, but then again I'm not a manager or scout. But he does seem like a common sense signing.

Eriksen is a top class talent and the feeling amongst the Liverpool based media is that he's a player we definitely want and will fight to get. FSG have always said that we can compete financially with any team for the right players, and buying Eriksen would make a big statement.

Kevin Gameiro is another player Rodgers wants to bring in his month, who can slot along the front line. Interestingly, PSG have signed Anelka on a short term deal which could mean Gamerio is on his way out? ...

Agreed on LB. It's a shame we have to put Johnson on the left because then it means we lose a massive threat on the right.

I have no doubt that we would compete for his signature financially, but we may not even be able to offer him Europe! If any of the top 4/Spurs come knocking, I fear we'd lose out.

As for Gamerio; I'm not sure if he'll work out over here, he's what? 5 foot nothing!!? We have no forward threat in the air....I'd like to see someone who can offer us a different option. That said, if we can have a look at Gamerio on loan as was first mooted, I'd be happy as he isn't slow and does put in a shift!

just... push... gerrard... forward... put a guy willing to do the grunt work in.... lucas v maschernao.. who cares ok thats fine but rather than a dnonkey we had alonso covering EVERY run, covering more ground than anyone and then only getting recognised by most for his passing ability and occasional wonder goal.

alonso shows the way, not by the passing as even charlie adam could pass it... the the work rate, the technical abilty to see the gap and plug it quietly and efficiently.... what all the knockers miss is how allen at least stepped into the elft full slot for johnson sometimes. the kid (same age as pacheco) can do it but he needs to learn a few things.

after that i agree on gamerio.. robinho flopped at two english clubs as he just wasn't up to it... mind you attitude was pisspoor so who knows juninho was tiny too i suppose.

It would be extremely difficult to lure a player of his quality. Hopefully Agger and Suarez could help persuade him

I think the LFC name/brand is still highly regarded around the world. However, we can't rely on that alone as each year without CL passes. The name is devalue without success. I think this is why we need to take Europa League very seriously and have good run.

I hear what you're saying - Sturridge is over 6ft so he could provide a bit of an aerial threat (He's no Andy Carroll). But it's clear that Rodgers wants a certain type of player - quick feet, quick thinker, technical etc.

Gameiro definitely fits the bill and he would be a welcome addition who I believe would improve the front 3.

  9. I sort of agree with that. It would obviously be one of Henderson or Allen that do the holding alongside Lucas (I'd prefer the former) but this system puts more pressure on the wide forwards to help out more defensively!

well.. it all depends i think.

in a 4-2-3-1 rafa style his best results came from having arbeloa type full backs who were not released to go forward. then the second line of 3 were free to do more.

SO if you say play a 4-3-3 like say mourinho did at chelsea and have genuine wide men then what you need to midfielders with ability to get up and down.

I think yesterday we didn't push/release gerrard forward and we tried to play a flatter 3 in the middle and only pressed first 20mins when utd entered our half. yet we still elft gaps for players to get in between our midfield and defense to play there and also we didn't double up out wide.... rv socre off a free cross from evra.. where was downing/wisdom... you know if you're going to sit i nas a tatcis then you need to chop off the supply.

anyway..... we need to revise our tactics in light of the instant combination between sturridge and suarez..... what do we want out of gerrard? passes 40 yards and above hollywood style or do we want through balls to these forwards and interplay????

i think we need to recognise borini is not going to be anywhere enar fit so stelring will play for another month without pressure on him.... i do think we need to bascially

finally can we afford genuinely to have two full backs pushed on to wing back positioning in a flat back 4? we need to think hard about it.... these games needed tight defnese and im not looking forward to arsneal and city away.

I suppose I some thing like this could work:

    -------------Lucas----------------
    -----Gerrard-----Henderson------
    ------------Suarez---------------
    -----Sturridge---Borini-----------

    Sven Goran Eriksson style.

I would not put Suarez on the head of a three man midfield or as an AM. You need three proper CM's these days in most scenarios.
