Never have been an ITK or claimed to be but I know of a mate (who goes to games) and he's just seen Gourlay at Kings Cross, Gourlay says Torres stays for the long term and however long it takes and Sturridge is gone in January and the club are looking at a number of targets in January.

Well.... there goes our dreams of seeing Torres gone in January, genuinely can't see us progressing as a club so long as he's there.

Feel for you. Benitez has a mandate (or should that be man-date) regarding Torres, and the lads just not what he was. I think the best thing that could happen for Chelsea would be if you bought a striker (maybe Ba) for a decent price, then Torres got injured in a freak "pushed down the stairs by RDM" accident... There is certainly a plethora of good strikers out there that would love to play for Chelski

Not surprised by sturridge going and torres staying. No one wants Torres and Sturridge hardly gets a look-in. I'm looking forward to seeing who we sign, hopefully they get a new striker early in the window. We need a new striker asap. I want Llorente cheap striker who wont be on the biggest wages as well

Six goals in five games, how well do you expect him to start performing?

As JFH basically said it's not about how many goals you score it's when you score them.

Scoring the 6th goal in a 6-0 win or the 5th goal in a 5-1 just doesn't cut it for me. There's no pressure/expectation and more often than not your playing against tired players.

Corinthians, 1-0 down in a cup final Torres 5 yards out from goal and misses. Sunderland was the only time Torres goals have made a significant contribution.

Thank **** that waste of space Sturridge is going. Never be a centre forward as long as he has a hole in his arse. <ok>

  10. Hate to say "I told you so," but - I told you so.

Benitez has been brought in to protect the Russian's £50 million screw up. He will hate the fact that he has been made to look like a fool in the transfer market, making the most expensive mistake in world footballing history. That is the only reason you have Benitez, and why RDM had to go.

Some of you might remember that I actually rated Torres, and made a case for him coming good, against a backlash of early "Torres out!" calls. But the lad simply has not performed. I was wrong, I cannot see him ever reclaiming anything like the kind of form he had at 'Pool. If you build a team around him, it will be a team that is doomed to fail.

As for Sturridge, I'd love to see him in lilly white <ok>

Sturridge will do better at yours where he will fit in beside Suarez, Brendan will probably play 4-4-2 to placate him most of the time. He would never be a singular striker as he needs people to feed off because he doesn't possess the skill to hold the ball up or be a physical threat.

I know what you're saying, but...

He saved Bolton two years ago, as a lone striker...if we'd given him the chance that the fluffer has had, we'd be 8-10 goals better off.

According to our 'ITK' local paper Sturridge's agent is a greedy twat and is possibly going to stop the deal going ahead.

'Liverpool have met the Londoners' £12million valuation of Sturridge but personal terms are proving problematic due to the demands of the striker's agent.Rodgers remains confident the problems will be resolved ahead of the transfer window opening on January 1 but he has lined up an alternative option.
If the deal for Sturridge collapses then Rodgers will look to sign Paris Saint Germain frontman Kevin Gameiro on loan until the end of the season.
The France international is available having found his opportunities limited in his homeland since the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic last summer.
Liverpool are keen on snapping up Sturridge, who they believe will provide a welcome injection of firepower, but they have made it clear they won't be held to ransom by the England international.
The Reds have spent more than £30million in agents fees over the past four years and owners Fenway Sports Group are determined to ensure that eye-watering figure is dramatically reduced.
As a result the club are prepared to play hardball with Sturridge's representatives who have been haggling for a number of costly clauses to be included in the frontman's deal.
Rodgers is hoping that Sturridge's desire to move to Anfield will see him take charge of the situation otherwise Liverpool will give up on him and focus their attention on Gameiro.'

Torres gets far too much stick, IMO. Looking at his goals compared to appearances this season, he's about on the par with Rooney but no-one criticises him. Also, his goals per match rate isn't that far from other strikers (well, except Van Persie, but very few people can compare to him)....

Yes, someone's gonna say they're against weak teams, but funnily enough, Manchester United play weak teams too.
