Sounds like after her botched attempt to house men in women prisons under a totally warped ideology has cost her the job of First Minister.

Good news for common sense I'd say !!

    Typical BBC reporting

Nicola Sturgeon is to resign as Scotland's first minister after more than eight years in the role.

The Scottish National Party leader is expected to make the announcement at a hastily-arranged news conference in Edinburgh.

It is not clear exactly when she will leave office.

Ms Sturgeon has been first minister since November 2014, when she took over from Alex Salmond following the independence referendum.

She went on to become the country's longest-serving first minister.

However, a source close to Ms Sturgeon told the BBC that she had "had enough".

she inherited the role after the last referendum failed and is leaving the Scottish economy in a real mess ... brought the SNP to the power it has, that everything that the people wanted she bought popularity with. The replacement for WOMBLING leader of the SNP in Westminster is a total failure and dare I say it worse than his predesessor ! Scotland is falling apart!

Not to mention the issues with their dreadful health care and education which ranks far lower than in England. Yes, really.
Their economy is in a mess and will get worse as they seem determined to put even more draconian measures on their own produce such as Scotch Whisky, which if the SNP get their way, will end up literally being kept under the counter in shops.
This is the result of a country being run by lefty one party state with warped ideals.

I guess Ian Blackford will be a contender to replace her. He's another idiot.

Oh dear!!, all the right wingers are having a field day on here. So, for balance. Whatever you think of her politics she been a very successful leader, she has presided over election results both our political parties would die for.

That's the sort of result you'd expect in what is essentially a one party state
A party that's tried to poison it's population against the English at that, whilst ignoring the needs of it's own people
    Good riddance to her.

A one party state?, there are Tory and Labour candidates in all seats, it’s only one party because the SNP win each seat in democratic elections. I’m not an SNP supporter but I do recognise they have legitimately won a hell of a lot of seats in Scotland. To say it’s a one party state is nonsense

I can’t stand the woman or her politics of hatred and division.
That said, I’m very surprised she’s resigning. She was pretty much unchallenged in her position.

    Ok
To all intents and purposes the SNP control everything due to their overwhelming majority. And the people they indoctrinate the most are the poor.
My very elderly Aunt and Uncle live up there on the east coast and reckon it's an absolute joke.
There are areas of East Glasgow that have worse depravation, including the quality of social housing than they did after the Second World War.
Make of that what you will.

Of course , that’s your opinion and you are entitled to it, obviously the majority of Scots don’t agree with you, also they are entitled to their views too.

I sincerely hope not, as he doesnt know how to respond to answers let alone Q's..! He is a premeditated politican, like so many, formulate a speech on a bit of paper and when they dont get the expeected answer are stumped...... SNP are trying to get a new referendum, well whilst they are doing that the economy will get worse.

I’ll wait and see who replaces her before being glad or sad she’s gone. Could be a case of ‘better the devil you know……’

... actually Angelic partly answered your comment for me ...! .. The SNP rose to power [ more so ] after last referendum. It is the same the world over however some people only vote when it is a dire need to! BRISTOL has a thriving non labour political party scene but when it comes to elections most non labour people dont... especially in my area! 24 houses not a single labour flag in windows . have had all the other parties, I now 8 neighbours and only 6 voted at last general election, but all 8 voted to get rid of the mayor and voted non labour for the council bit.... go in and vote at 2145 and get chatting to the teller and look at your road to see how many ticks there are ... my road had a lot missing for the GE !
    .... PARTLY AGREE

YOU ARE PARTLY RIGHT there is a choice, but since devolution everything about England and Scotland has slowly fell apart and got "nasty" rivalry has turned to "hatred" and oil revenue went to their heads .... it was suddenly theirs! In 1966 I was offered a job by a friend of my uncle as a welder on the North sea oil Project... nowadays when jobs are available almost impossible as a non scot to get one! in any field ... further North apply for a job in a shop/ hotel /etc and it is a eastern european or non english person going to get it.....

I think you should be fined for NOT voting like I believe they do in Australia (?).
Even if you tick ‘None of the above’ or spoil your ballot paper at least it proves you’ve actually considered and made a choice.
