A Celtic fan who admitted posting racist and sectarian comments on Facebook has avoided a jail sentence after writing letters of apology.

Michael Bailey, 20, from Paisley, was caught after a police task force began reviewing internet sites after March's so-called Old Firm shame game.

He was given a community payback order and told to carry out 300 hours of community service.

Bailey was also given a football banning order for two years.

This means he cannot enter any UK football stadium while the sanction is in place.

We all do stupid things when we're younger but there's no justification for that. Let's hope he's learnt his lesson.

Besides that, has anyone heard anything about the two bombers from Ayrshire? When's the trial?

The police are doing a very fine job tracing and charging Celtic fans.
Sure we knew all along that it was Celtic fans behind it all, all those threats verbal and actual towards Neil Lennon and players
all came from Celtic fans.

You are properly stupid. Or on the wind-up.

The story is about a celtic fan posting some nasty nonsense about Diouf and Smith. Where's the mention about Lennon? There's more to be taken to court over this sort from both supports.

The bombers may take a while longer to get to court as there is more of a case to be built. There crime is far more serious than some daft wee bhoy posting online. Not heard much on when the two fannies will be tried but you never do until it hits court.

I'm amazed that he got off by writing some grovelling letters.

It does have to be said, though, that back when I used Facebook, you would see loads of these pages.

Surely there's going to be months and months of ****ing idiots being brought to trial.

One of the reasons I chucked Facebook was that it shattered my faith in humanity - your average open Celtic or Rangers group page would be covered with the most ******ed, bigotted, rancid pish.

I'm from Paisley and, although it's a big town, I don't know or recognise this guy - what a fanny.

Have you seen some of the comments under Celtic or Rangers videos on Youtube?

Bunch of ****ing ******s out there.

One time a friend of mine was watching an illegal stream of a Celtic game. He told me that some of the live chat messages were rather distressing.

Mr T.
Calm down a wee bit. I think you know that Neil Lennon was the object of some of the most vicious and evil posts possible in Facebook and elsewhere.
He was not the only Celtic target and of course Diouf and Smith were not the only targets from Rangers either.
I just made the point about the ability of the police to charge the Celtic idiots/lowlife and yet although most sensible decent people believed that
Neil Lennon was especially targeted by a wide range of lowlife/idiots.

People who say things that are awful online would never say it to someones face

I hate the idea of cops arresting you for being an internet hardman

If you act a **** on Facebook.....facebook should block your iip

Do we need to fill prisons with bams?

Is this just a revenue idea for the SNP....fine after fine?

Leave us alone ****os

To be fair I could quite easily have been arrested for my comments after the actions of Rangers in that midweek cup game!

Nothing racist of course but its easy to get caught up after a few beers and having internet on your phone.
