I had a play with the BBC predictor, tried not to be too biased. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/predictor/default.stm Here's what I got. Cardiff champions, Watford in 2nd. Hull, Forest, Brighton and Bolton in the playoffs. Palace missing out on the last day of the season. Charlton finishing 12th, on 61 points, ahead of Millwall on goal difference. Blackburn, Wolves and Bristol City relegated, Blackburn and Wolves on 52 points each. Huddersfield somehow climbing out on the last day. I still have Hudds down for relegation in my mind, but thought it was interesting. Anyone else want to share their predictions?
Cardiff champions Watford 2nd Hull Forest Brighton and Leicester in the playoffs, Palace miss out by 3 points Leeds, Udders and Brizzle go down. We finish 14th on 60 points, 3 points behind Millwall. Can't believe my own predictions!
I also did a worst case scenario, where the lowest placed team wins every match from now until the end of the season, apart from matches involving Charlton, which we lose. In that case, the bottom 5 would be Wolves 60 Blackburn 59 Huddersfield 57 Bristol City 55 Charlton 54 So I think 60 points would be the absolute maximum needed to survive, although I think a win against Wolves would likely be enough even in the worst case. 66 points for the playoffs if results went in that way
Did you allow for the fact that many of their matches will be against each other, so they cannot all get maximum points?
On the BBC Predictor Eddie you have to..... you go through each week and predict the results then the BBC website calculates the final table for you
Yes, and each week I 'predicted' that the lowest placed team on the day would win each match. I guess there probably is an 'even worse' scenario in which Bristol City lose all their matches, and everyone else wins as many as possible, maximising the points for the team in 22nd, by having lower points for 23rd and 24th, but I think the only difference with that would be giving Huddersfield another 3 points, but still 60 points for safety (given their goal difference). I had a lot of teams on 60 points anyway. This set of results would be extremely unlikely, and involves teams chasing promotion losing every time to those fighting relegation. Give it a try yourself.
Strange isnt it... We finish 10th or above and we end up higher than the season when we first got relegated from the Premiership - Goes to show that we really have come through some dark days over recent seasons
so just did an aptly named 'stupid prediction' where we win all our remaining games and the other results are largely random based on what think might happen although for some reason palace and bolton don't pick up many points (or leicester or forrest for that matter). Cardiff Hull watford Brighton crystal palace charlton Still it's a nice dream at least untill tomorrow...
