It´s been a long time coming But boy, was it worth the wait, The goal from E. Bennett was stunning The best of this year to date, But what a great performance all round To make Spurs look really quite plain, We continue to astonish and astound All those who thought our form would wane, Forty-three points and in ninth place So bring on Man. City I say, Although they´re wrapped up in the title race It should be one hell of a day, Today there were so many heroes To name them all would take some time, But they all deserve it, so here goes We´ll start with Ruddy on the line, One brilliant one-handed reflex save When it was still 1-1, was great, Along with Bennett and Ward, so brave To cut out what Spurs did create, The ageless Drury did what he does Without fuss, and with no alarm, Along with Martin R. who likes to buzz Forward when we do chance our arm, Good to see Johnson back in again In the heart of the engine room, Where Howson put in a great stint to tame Modric and Co when danger loomed, But the pick for me on a stunning day Were Bennett E, Pilks and old ´horse´, Who caused King countless times to lose his way As our attacks near reached gale force, And Wilbraham more than deserved a start And let no-one down for the cause, A big honest player with a big heart Like them all, they deserve our applause. I've been waiting for this since the final whistle, and boy, was it worth the wait! Adam Drury tweeted well done to a couple of the lads after the game! I tweeted back that there was no need to single anyone out, there were 14 heroes out there today! Love your poem sir, always on the money!
You're poetry gets better and better!!! I don't think I've known such euophria since my son was born nearly 39 years ago.
Certainly brings back memories of the Vitesse Arnhem, Bayern Munich days, but even surpasses those I think.
