WTF was that challenge from Kompany on Johnson for their goal? It was a bizarre referring decision. Grrrrrrrrrrrr
Pretty much what everyone around me was saying. We've had some woeful refereeing decisions at CR in the last few games, starting with the win against Wigan.
the ref's excuse will be that he won the ball. He did. But he had to completely wipe out Johnson first to get to the ball. The ref was poor through out, but he wasn't helped at all by his linesmen, particularly the one in front of the City stand who seemed to have forgotten why he was holding a flag for most of the game
The first goal also came about as a result of a handball by Kompany. It wasn't intentional as the ball flicked up off Pilkington's boot and struck Kompany's hand, but the result was the ball under his control instead of going past him.
All valid points and IMO, it's time wasting got punished especially at throw ins and substitutions. I'd also like to see subs banned in the last 5 minutes, unless it's because of injury!!
The officials today were appalling. There were several decisions that were just wrong. Tbh the free-kick pilks scored was a alright tackle from what I saw (was sat behind that goal, so only saw it once).
The ref was poor all game - the tackle on Johnson was clearly a foul even though he won the ball Kompany went in with all studs showing, the foul on Snoddy that led to Pilk's goal looked like Snoddy fell over, the "back-pass" from Garrido that Bunn tipped over was .... well .. handball really and I thought that Aguero was offside for their 4th gaol although MOTD make it look borderline - he looked off from where I was sitting. Well done to the lads for a stirring fight back but we lacked quality in the final third I thought - if we had got more balls into the box we'd have stood a chance of a point I think as their defence looked creaky. Liked Harry Kane though - certainly puts himself about doesn't he - like to see him start againts the Hammers.
I also thought the potentially leg-breaking tackle by Kompany was a key turning point for a key goal. The pundits on MotD also thought Kompany got the ball on the foul that lead to City's first goal. He did, but he then cleared out Johnson much like Bassong did on Nasri. The referee was weak, IMO.
This whole thing with the 'pass back' is doing my head in. Have a look back over the season and see how many times a player kicks the ball to the keeper and he picks it up or saves it with his hands... you will be suprised how many times they do it, garridos kick was may have been seen as an unintentional pass back. There was a similar moment in a previous game of ours when someone hit the post went to a defender and he kicked it towards the keeper who picked it up/saved it.
Bassong's tackle was absolutely superb, hard bit fair, taking man and ball (in that order) without leaving the ground and leading with one foot. It was a textbook tackle that wasn't even a foul let alone a yellow card. Kompany's on the other hand was an absolute shocker, studs up with both feet, entirely reckless and a nailed on red card in any other game. Had a Stoke player done it it would be back page headlines, however it hardly got a mention on MotD. Dirty bastard, cost us the game in my opinion. And as for Hansen saying Nasri was "unlucky" to be sent off
it's not, but if he gains an advantage from it then it is handball. His arm was out, the ball hit it and landed at his feet. Three passes later the ball was in the back of the net.
Totally agree - I wonder what action would have resulted had a Norwich player comitted the same offence on of their players (or as you say a Stoke player!!!). From seeing the slow mo replay, Nasri certainly deserved to be sent off.
Funnily enough, I used Stoke as an example on the match thread yesterday. And to have Tony Gale say the ref evened things up for his wrong decisions is ridiculous. Longsight and I disagreed about the tackle and I can see his point. Playing junior football, I made many tackles like that. But nowadays, in the professional game, the refs have been told, if both the player's feet leave the ground, it's dangerous and a sending off. And it was AirKompany for a while. Nasri knows the punishment for putting the head in.
