With the news that Stu will leave Saints this summer, I'd like to put on record my thanks and appreciation for his time at Saints. It's a shame the end to his Saints career was being injured and he missed out on the play off final but he stuck with us in the Championship and played a big part in getting us to back to the PL. One of my favourite players of the last few years. Thanks Stu and all the best!
I'm actually very emotional about this as Stu has probably been my favourite Saints player for the past 4-5 years. I will really miss him and his beautiful hair! All the best Stu. I hope we will be able to see you playing at the Euros!
A good pro, on his day he could just glide pass players. I wish him well, but think this could me a good move for both parties, I don't want my last memory of him to be struggling with the pace of the prem
Spot on. And respect to Stu (and Russ) for him giving us that extra year and helping us back to the Prem when he could've been following his wishes of playing abroad before calling it a day. I think he had an offer from Torino last summer but was one of the players who had their mind changed by RM.
Fantastic player. Genuine pleasure watching him. Sad he's leaving as he definitely still has the quality.
I don't think he would sign just a 1 year extension and I'm not sure it is in the clubs interest to offer anything more than that. All in all this is probably the right time for both parties.
I don't get to St Mary's very often, but I took my three daughters and my mum to the FA Cup game against Coventry a couple of years ago. We had a perfect view of this strike - one of the best I've ever seen in the flesh.
A fine player, a treat to watch - a whole lot of class right there. I was really hoping we'd have the pleasure for another season but them's the breaks. Nothing but love for Stuey - hope he's fit for the Euros and beyond.
Great player for us and like others have said one of my favourites over his time with us. One of a few players to play for both Southampton and my Scottish team Dundee United...and clearly the best! Now go back to Dundee United and finish your career you sexy beast!!
All the best in what will likely be your final move Stuey. Fantastic servant to the club, solidified by deciding to stay one more season with us in the Championship and help get us back up. What a joy it's been to watch him glide past players, link the midfield with the attack and hit a fair few belters too. There have been far too many seasons where no Stu = no party. He's been vital in making us tick for years! Thank you Stu
Wish he could come to Pompey for two season's as he is class, but definitely way out of our range as wages would be prohibitive.
The only reason he would go to Portsmouth would be paint the Spinnaker Tower red again like it was a few years ago.
