I know the service to Sordell and Church isn't great, but that partnership shows no sign of developing into one which will cause problems to defenders, let alone score a few. Kermit never looked fit to me, I don't buy CP's statement that he was ready, he looked slow as soon as the game started. Pigott has been sent back to the under-21's in disgrace after a bad 55minutes against Millwall(the whole team had a bad game but Pig has been singled out) Smith and Azeez are out on loan.
    So what to do?
    1) Send Sordell back
    2) Bring Smith back. He won't score many but he'll cause defenders problems
    3) Let Kermit get fit- he's not the Messiah, just a good player.
4)Bring Pig back into the reckoning. Can't see any valid reason not to. What particularly annoys me is that against Millwall he was taken off just as he was starting to get over his stage-fright and play his normal game.
    5) Let Azeez get on with his development at Torquay.
The manager may not be happy with the strikers at his disposal, but in the absence of Kermit, Smith and Pigott are the 2 strikers who at least know how to go looking for the ball, so let's make the best of what we've got,eh?

For what its worth I agree, not thought much of Pigott so far but compared to Sordell he is fantastic & I'm reliably told by people who have watched the under 21's that he is going to be good. Send Sordell back to his internet shop or whatever it is he focuses on & give Pigott a run.

Sordell cannot be sent back until January at the earliest under the terms of his loan. Even if we are paying 1p of his 20k a week wages, it is too much. His attitude stinks the place out and is a world away from what Charlton is all about.

I think Solly will be sold in January for around £1.5m. The money will be used to plug the holes in the finances for a bit, plus give Powell the chance to get Obika back on loan.

    Just a hunch.

In my limited understanding, I think to get rid of Sordell early there must be a breach of his employment contract, being shat and having the attitude of a woman on the blob is not regrettably a breach.

I say this with a tiny bit of certainty that Solly will be not be sold this season. With almost 4 years on his contract, and an injury hit season already, no one is going to touch him. I also think he would only get in perhaps three premier division side at present, obviously I am not including palace, as I can get a game for them. He is just not worth a punt for a premier division side unless they see something long term that I don't.

We need a striker like most of the posters on CL need a lay. I see something in Churchy, I don't know what exactly but he has that andy hunt quality about him. Except he can't score goals, so perhaps more the Carl Leaburn. I honestly think Church will grow into a decent enough striker, I have no feeling about Piggott but the real spotters on here may feel differently.

FHB - can't disagree with any part of this. <ok>

The practicalities of the disposal of Sordell may thwart that part of your plan though.

What the hell. It's november tomorrow, so let's just try and get the best out of him, and hopefully scout someone who actually wants to play meantime.

Church is an honest pro who will give you 100% every game. He reminds me a lot of Garry Nelson in the way he runs the channels, he just lacks a bit of Nelse's class. If he stays fit I can see him getting 7-8 goals this season. Yann is our talisman , and not just for his goals. He is the only player we have got who can hold the ball up ( are you watching, Jiminez.....). Piggot looks 12 months away from being ready. The fella from Bolton with pretensions to be the next Dizzee Rascal is best sent back.

And what about Smith? Maybe he could be the new Carl Leaburn. Holds the ball up well, difficult to dispossess, brings others into play, decent in the air, just lacks a proper striker's shot. I bet if we had a new Carl Leaburn it would liven up the forum a bit.

Sending Sordell back isn't an option. Trying to get him to be the Championship quality player he can be, is the option. He is starved of service and isn't able to be a threat - so he doesn't feel a threat. Strikers need to feel empowered like that, something that Jermaine Defoe once said.

@RichCawleySLP: But #cafc could be in market for short-term loan for a CB and CF. Basile Camerling not being offered a deal by the Club.

It looks as if Wood and Kermy could be out for a while. I think that Wood is a big blow as he has brought some stability to the defence. I presume that a short term loan is one month.

Agree about Wood - massive blow. Camerling had a good report from West Ham, but we aren't really in a position to be spending money on players who don't have a great injury record.

Shame about Camerling if true. It appears that he was good enough at under 18 level to keep Benzema on the Bench for the French national squad and was highly rated at Nancy prior to his injury. He scored for us against West Ham and for QPR against Tottenham whilst on trial and seemed useful. If we could keep him fit, which up to now Errol and Co seem to be quite good at dealing with long term injuries, then he could be the steal of the season. His wages at Colmar (where he was on loan from Nancy after the injury) didn't seem that steep (less than100k euros per annum) and can't be that far out of our bracket although we would probably have to fund some accommodation for him and the rather attractive lady he brought along last Sunday.

The situation with our lack of fit strikers will (I am told) be resolved early this week :) and I think most people will be quite happy <ok>
