Martin O'Neill admits he needs at least one of his strikers to bag double figures in goals next season as he looks to move forward. Sebastian Larsson and Stephane Sessegnon are the club's joint-leading goalscorers with eight strikes apiece this term, while Nicklas Bendtner is just behind on seven. O'Neill watched his side draw 0-0 at Aston Villa last weekend as they created a number of opportunities without scoring. And he saw the game as symptomatic as a wider issue as he looks for more goals from his front players. "We need to get on the end of balls into the box, it's as simple as that," O'Neill said. "The message couldn't be more clear. "People talk about natural goalscorers, and in essence perhaps we don't have one in our midst. "That's not to say that the midfielders can't get us a few goals. For a few months, at a very important time of the season, we were sharing them around. "That's great for us. It probably hid the fact that we don't have anyone getting double figures and that's something we need to address if we want to push on. "We need probably two players hitting in advance of double figures to give ourselves a chance. "If we then have a midfield player weighing in with goals, that would be terrific."
Agreed, but WHY did he go? was it Bruce or his daughter? cant be about the money, otherwise TAPPING UP would have been the order of the day.
I think we'll all find out one day, about him, Bent & Cana. There's more to it than we know at this point, that's blatant.
the one that hurt me the most was cana tbh i ****ing loved that guy what a ****ing player he was! even when he stepped into the back 4 to help us out he was top quality. and that was his first season in england he would have got even better imo.
aye and know explanation from him or the board or manager nowt!! dont know of any other team that this happens to like. thing i dont get is, how can bruce get these players here and playing well then bang gone!!!
