How many times this season have we seen the ball tantalisingly cleared out of opposition boxes because we just lacked a player who would hover in anticipation of a keeper spill or a post/ bar deflection back into open play? How many times have deflections been sky'd or turned around the post?

Assuming his fitness/sharpness has gone up several notches, could he be the answer. You would assume a sharp Earnie could certainly be a bonus.

He must have faster reaction times since dodging all those missiles.

It would be amazing for Earnie to contribute the last few goals to take us to the premiership but unfortunately that is the stuff of dreams. We will have to rely on our other local boy to drag us over the finishing line.

Very true ITI but I can't imagine Earnie fits the bill in terms of what MM is looking for, as he is: -

Useless in the air
Poor at holding the ball up and retaining possession
Poor at playing in team mates for assists
And we want someone of Prem quality

Terrific lad as he is and would love the opportunity of helping us reach the Prem, he is not the player he was 7/8 years ago and even then his type of player would not necessarily fit with the way we play now.

If he is back I hope a good Div 1 club can be found for him so he can play regularly and score a few at that level.

Not suggesting for one moment Earnie is the mythical Prem quality targetman we clearly lack, just that he offers another option.
