I think Jorgensen is still on Rafa's radar but Sturridge and Abraham have proven to be a bullet dodged.

I could also see us trying to get Bas Dost again.

I reckon Mitrovic from Fulham may be available if they don't get promotion through play-offs. He has been scoring regularly and I reckon we could probably get him at a price even Charnley won't try to negotiate down.

It may be hard for the lad to take the step up though.
Just look at Gayle who scored for fun down there then struggled in the PL.

Ashley would never sanction the purchase of Bas Dost - he would not be happy with the lost income on letters for shirt names. I have heard he is thinking about another centre back from Germany - Sokratis Papastathopoulos

Are you saying he might have found his level?

I think we should go him now before the World Cup,he only has to score a few times and his price will double.

It will probably take 3 months to get the deal over the line.

I was just looking at the stats for our preferred two strikers and its ****ing woeful.

    Gayle P36 G5
    Joselu P30 G4
    Perez P35 G8

I accept Perez plays in a deeper roll so he can be excused to a degree.

Gayle has 2 goals in his last 20 games.

We need shot of him and Joselu they serve no purpose as players for us other than to frustrate us!

Indeed and you can add the Slimani failure to that too.
Its tragic that they are a bench mark but does anyone think we would have been any worse of than the above had we just stuck with Mitro?

We will never know however I honestly think Mitro would have score more goals than them both put together.

Gayle is not a premiership footballer!

I think Rafa would go for a different type of striker to Dost. If he was looking for that type Jorgensen will be his first choice, or maybe Rondon with his experience of the league. I think Abel Hernandez on a free would be smart business for one. Then look at a Raphinhia who has done really well for Guimaraes in Portugal. I think the likes of Dost, Aboubakar etc would take too much of our budget. We seem to like this Karl Toko Ekambi of Angers too.

I would like to see us have a go for Davie Selke or Andrej Kramaric or Mark Uth. I think the German league is a better fit. I think Selke would be ideal.

In this country I'd love us to get Welbeck (though his injuries do worry me). He is tailor made for Benitez.

Arnautovic would be the dream for me. Knows the league and could handle the pressure. More the all-action striker we're probably after.

We probably won't pay those wages though so think we'll be looking to any of Holland/Spain/France for cheaper options.

I see a fruitless chase for someone like Celtic's Dembele on the cards n all.

Definitely with Free-Dor on this one; Selke is the best fit for what we should be after. Cost Hertha £7m from RedBull Leipzig, though I'd look to the fact RB took him on in the first place, they have an exceptional record for finding talent. Tall, quick, goalscorer. Far cheaper than Dembele is likely to be.

It's kinda proven that experience in the Champ or even the PL is no guarantee, far from it (Gray, Berahino, Gayle) so not worth looking in England. Premium price for mediocre quality. France isn't good enough either.

I agree that Germany is the place to go, and there's quite a few unknowns over there - wasn't long ago that Timo Werner was unheard of, now he's a £50m+ player. We have to move smart, though.

Desperately need someone decent, though, for so many reasons - it's gotta be so demoralising to be Shelvey, Kenedy or whoever and look up only to see Gayle or Joselu ahead of you. Same for Rafa. "hmmm, Gayle's having another stinker, what are my options......oh dear".

He doesn't play up top though and looks a bit toothless when he does. Him and Shaqiri are those types that play deeper or wider. A good manager will manage their egos and tap into their obvious quality resources. They'll work for that manager. They are similar in that the top clubs don't feel the need because they see their ego as not matching their ability. They can get someone as good or better without the baggage.

Well in 2018 we loaned three strikers out - one has scored 8 (1 in 2 games), one has scored 9 (almost 1 in 2) and another who has scored 12 (1 in 1.4 games).

All 3 strikers are completely different to each other. Granted they have played in lower leagues but that is the only opportunities they have been afforded.

9 goals since converting to striker midway through season and I think that's where he'll be in future. Matches I've watched him in he's stayed fairly central and I don't think we'd

I rate him there, leads the line no problem and it's a plus that he can operate the wing. Seen Gayle, Slimani and even Joselu regularly take up positions there in build-ups. The difference is he can actually cross.

There's not much about his ego that I've seen to make a judgement on, but if Moyesy can make him perform, anyone probably can.

    Sturridge will be available.

Ings might be available as well depending if we get new forwards. Wouldn’t be a bad signing, £15m

Could you afford to pay us that much as well as paying for the new striker(s)?
