I think its fair to say that since the sale of Bent in January we have all, indeed Bruce is on record saying,we need a replacement, do we still?

We can always improve in every area but I think we can accept that keeper, back 4 and midfield in the main are just about sorted and all the speculation revolves around left wing and striker.

Left wing would seem to be N’Zogbia if his wage demands are reduced or settle for what we have, so what do we have.

Vaughn, Steed and Richardson are the obvious with Sess, Ji and Wickham possibilities.

Vaughn does not want it and I’m certainly not convinced is the answer.
Steed can do it but history suggests he is not the 90 mins every game answer.
Richardson can do it but seldom does.
Wickham and Ji would seem stand ins rather than the answer and Sess seems to be a natural striker behind the main striker.

To me the left wing is the priority and I hope Bruce has options lined up.

Up front we have Gyan who can do it with Wickham who should be able to do it, question mark over age and Ji who we simply don’t know about but looks promising. In the hole behind either of these we have Sess and Richardson who have proved they can do a good job and Steed who cant, he does not score.

Its all a gamble and with none of us knowing how much Bruce has to spend its hard to be certain on what is the best gamble. Bringing in an experienced striker like Defoe seems sensible but at what cost and what affect on Wickham and Ji.

If Bruce, who sees the players every day, feels that Wickham and Ji can step up then I will go with that in the hope that the available cash will solve the left wing problem.

If we solve neither I would then feel Bruce is taking a gamble to many, truth is we can only sit and wait in the hope it all fits into place, we will soon know.

A left winger is priority to me if we dont we risk being a very unbalanced side, we need to use the full width of the pitch we have played far to narrow ever since allan johnstone spat his dummy out. The strikers we have should be enough if they are given the service, to play wickham and ji (2 big lads) with out giving them real service is a waste think back to kenwyne great in the air but we didnt see the best of him due to poor service and later poor attitude. Also i think playing with 2 out and out wide men would be great for Gyan and he would vastly improve on last years goal tally

I agree, to many games last season saw Gyan on the left wing trying to win and keep the ball. A good left winger and Sess behind him leaves him free to do what he does best.

I can't reiterate enough that playing two out and out strikers would not enable us to get the best out of Sess.

An attacking LW should be priority in my opinion, n'zog is the obvious choice, but I would be quite keen on seeing us stick in a bid for Carlos Vela. Can play on the wing, support Gyan and Sess, and is a hell of a finisher.

Must just be me, cos as it stands i'd still put Sess on the left, and play Wickham up with Gyan.

If we get a l/w iv'e no idea how i'd set the team up. Ideally Sess c/m, but there is no way i want to drop Gardner.

    we need both IMO

Left Wing is/should be priority mind, we cannot have Vaughan, Colback, Richardson and Malbanque all plugging the gap over there this season

I just hope Brucie has a good back up lined up incase N'Zogbia doesn't sign

cannot think of many out and out left wingers Gradel at Leeds and Guardado who has been linked before at Deportivo

The thought of a strike force of Gyan with Sess behind him really excites me

Like i said, must just be me, cos it just doesn't strike me as a 25-30 a season partnership.
