Simpson threw away two decent chances to win the game today. Sick of it tbh, need someone whos prolific anyone got any useful rumours/links?
Burnsy seems to have an idea that we're in for Steve Morison at Norwich, which to be honest I don't see happening. I'd have liked Wood but he's off to Leicester, maybe Billy Sharp now that O'Driscoll's unfortunately gone for a walk?
I was watching the lads 2011/12 season DVD and as much as I thought he was semi-pants last season, Fryatt looks a class finisher on it compared to what we have this season.
One player to watch is Jake Cassidy at Tranmere. He is on loan from Wolves but alot of clubs are looking at him
Hasn't scored in the last 5 in League One. I'd much rather have someone with a track record like Frazier.
That's the problem though, if you 'never know' I wouldn't be too convinced. I'd rather we got someone where we do know he'll score goals.
Sometimes its the best way of getting a striker who is going to score a load of goals. If you want a proven striker in Jan expect to pay a big price
Perhaps in the summer but if you get to the January window in the top 2 without a striker scoring goals and you know that if you had a goalscorer you'd be flying, I'd rather push the boat out than go for a youngster that plays in a mid-table side in the same league.
Ronnie Moore said he lacks pace. Would be at a higher level if he was a yard quicker! We don't want anyone from lower leagues. Would rather take Morgan from Liverpool or Sammy Ameobi from Newcastle.
I'm glad you've got Wood. As we've played you twice, hopefully now you can take some points off our rivals.
We had the debate on our board. Our top scorer has 8, but we've got 8 players with 4 goals or more. I think it's only 1 team out of the 12 promoted in the last 4 seasons had a player score 20+ goals. A steady supply from all over seems to be the way to go.
I think there's a fair bit of truth in this. Watching Leicester today I found it hard to see where a new striker would have made a significant impact. Their main chances seemed to fall to Knockaert in the first half and I would have thought that he would still be expected to play even with a new striker. Their existing strikers are decent enough players but they just didn't actually manufacture any chances for them. From our point of view, it would be great to have a better finishing rate but I'm not convinced that we don't already have players who are capable of scoring more goals. Proschwitz still hasn't really had a decent run of games but he does look OK when he comes on these days. As for Simpson, His header was a bit of a disappointment but his overall game today was impressive - lots of pace and some good control even though he ended up wearing Wes Morgan like a rucksack most of the time.
Xisco from Newcastle? Scored a hat trick in there under 21's recently and has Quality about him? Worth a punt for someone.
My preferred Championship striker options are: Craig Davies - Barnsley Becchio - TWS Both offer physical presence and an ability to be on the end of crosses coming in from Elmo or Brady. From the Premier League: Cameron Jerome - Would be excellent, but highly unlikely. Shola Ameobi - See above. Morison - Would be excellent, how likely? Graham - As Morison. Fraizer Campbell would be pointless and too similar to what we currently have attack wise.
****, I'd get him in just for his name. Looked good today though. Still think we should try for Nugent, at least test the water. If not, see how much Wednesday want for Madine. I don't buy into this "I want to stay at Wednesday forever" bollocks.
