    This is great news as far as I'm concerned... Shouold we go down, the ts long as we can still afford his wages I reckon we'd be coming straight back up with him up front. :smiley:

    DJIBRIL Cissé insists he is staying at QPR – even if Rangers are relegated.

    The former Liverpool, Lazio and Panathinaikos frontman has scored five goals in seven games since his January move to Loftus Road.

    Mark Hughes's men head into Sunday's showdown at Manchester City needing a point to secure Premier League survival.

    But Cisse has made it plain he is going nowhere whatever happens at the Etihad Stadium on the weekend.

    “I have to be loyal to the club and chairman Tony (Fernandes)," he said. "They gave me the chance to show what I can do at QPR, and you have to pay people back – even if it’s in the Championship.”

    Hate to put a dampener on things, but ....

    Could we afford to keep him in the Championship? .... new rules, etc.

    Something tells me that even the "desire to stay" might be tempered with the club's need to ship out the highest wage earners in order not to fall foul of the new rules.

    It's a fair point Eamon.

    Just a sneaky thought: If the owners are completely comitted (to the short term in this instance) couldn't we bump them down in salary and then give them lucrative endorsement deals from various steel companies and Malaysian airlines?

    I think I read somewhere Eamon that relegated clubs have an extended period to 'adjust' to the FL rules

    Relegated clubs are exempt for two seasons if my memory is right...

    Yep, bang on. Great news to know that had we gone down he would have stayed. He would have destroyed championship teams. Still look forward to a stable base in the prem :)

    Hmmm, a full Championship season would come to around 5-6 red cards at a conservative estimate and would result in missing about 50% of the fixtures. I'm up for it but we will need to buy another striker for cover.:emoticon-0116-evilg
