this game may well decide which leagues these clubs will be playing their football next season. everything became tighter for them as colchester gained an unlikely point at home to rotherham and stevenage grabbed an away point at crawley. this now means imo from bradford and lower, clubs could go down some more likely than others. wurzels results -------------------- w h gills 2-1, L a sheff u 0-3,d h 2-2 tranny, w a orient! 3-1, d a oldham 1-1,l h covy 1-2and w h carlisle 2-1 11 points from 21 league p34 w 7 d14 L 13 f49 a 56 gd -7 p 35 p33 w 7 d 11 L15 f31 a43 gd -12 p32 wurzel aces sam baldock 18 striker j emmanuel-thomas 17 m/f so 2 prominent goal scorers, scored 49 compare to our paltry 31. sadly unless some one up front for town can score some goals soon, out future in League 1 is in others feet and heads. sheff utd have proved how 3 wins can catapult you up the league and i expect wurzels to do likewise. Betting 505AJ goes strawberriy 0 wurzels 2 on a fine mild spring day. prove me wrong town. Floreat Salopia!
Another massive game for us - its worrying that they have goalscorers and we don't but I predict a hard-fought 1-0 win for us with one of our loan contingent (Medez-Laing? Storey? Atajic? ) finally getting off the mark.
Burns looks like one to be wary of. Only used as a sub against the Gills but completely outpaced the England defence on one occasion for Wales U21 last night.
Don't worry...we never urn up to the big "6 pointers"!....... Baldock is on fire at the moment and only needs a sniff of a shot, whereas JET is completely off his game....having said that he may well pull one "worldy" out of his bag of tricks. Glad we got our midfield playing better with a few back to form and back from injury and after his u21 display, Burns may get a run. Head says 1-1, heart says 1-2. Enjoy and good luck for the rest of the season.
Id settle for a draw, the main thing is we don't lose, City that is Big following coming up 1200 sold so far so likely an away sell out which normally means the players don't show up!
excellent, with a fine spring day we may have a gate approaching 6500. another draw would not be the end of the world but our loanees need some target practice. chairmans bentley, they cannot miss that surely, ok yes they can. i hope it is a great game and city and town stay up. a little concerned at stevenage now putting a win together
Really important game for both teams, essential for town to get three points and to start storming up the table. This has got to be done game by game, but Sheffield have managed it since christmas.
Why the continued comparisons with Sheffield Utd? The have a better manager, a better team and had games in hand! Let's get real, it's going to be one almighty struggle!
comparisons are made because 21 days ago, blades were down with us. a cup run and 3 wins has seen them rocket.
There seems to be a renewed confidence stirring in the Shrews squad since MJ took over, perhaps it is still the honeymoon period but the fans forums all seem slightly more confident too. With confidence comes success and with success comes league one security next season.
new asst manager tom morello, the cherry on the top? ex wrecsam/ also new loan for a month mid fielder from yeovil i think. no more info prediction altered. tinpots 2 wurzels 0 att 7003 scorers al jolson dean martin.
So who isn't in the squad tomorrow with regards the loanees? BBC seem to like keeping up to date with our year of the loans!!! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26473835
if i was being pessimistic i would say staying up this season is only putting off the inevitable next season. but let us see what mike and tom can do with £50k from the chairman in the summer. jim foley experienced mid fielder joined town on a months loan from yeovil. imo we need an elderly experienced striker as a player coach. floreat salopia. aj. @atchamjack twitter tony russell facebook.
Absolutely gutted to see that performance in such a vital match. As you say KDS, Jackson may not have covered himself in glory but the manager can do very little when the back four (with the honourable exception of Goldson) keep making schoolboy errors like ours did. Difficult to see us getting out of it now when we need to win pretty much all our remaining home games and have not won one since November. I certainly will not bother to attend the Crawley or Wolves games to see a bunch of half-fit loanees trying to learn their trade at our expense or to see our own experienced players looking like Sunday League novices.
I wasn't in favour of leaving out Jacobson at the outset but having kept a clean sheet at Coventry, why bring him back for this match? He was at fault for the first 2 goals. The first, they learned nothing from Emmanuel-Thomas' equalizer at Ashton Gate (a carbon copy) and failed to shepherd him away from his left foot. The second goal came from the realms of the Keystone Cops. Storey and Foley the front pairing!!!!----give me strength!!!
KDS, Mills was the weak link of the back four at Coventry so I can see the logic of bringing Jacobson back as he has been our most consistent player this season. I do not think anyone could predict how many basic mistakes Jacobson made but defensive blunders have been par for the course for us this season. I thought Storey was quite lively at times but was surprised at Foley playing up front as I thought he was a winger (what does that say about Jackson's loan signings of Atajic and Mendez-Laing that Foley was preferred as the starter). Taylor is a great worry - he does score more than most but his complete inability to produce a cross is a real problem for us. All in all, when you score as few goals as we do you cannot afford to give soft goals away.
Mendez Laing spent quite a while on an exercise bike prior to coming on so guess they still have concerns about him. Defensive blunders are a concern, but lack of decent supply to the forwards is and has been our biggest problem.
