In this long summer lull, I think it would be good to do a few Straw From the Nest requests. Ideally I'm looking for: [HR][/HR] Players who have left the club. I don't like to try and give a balanced view on current players, because that has a habit of coming back to bite you in the backside. Players who left during or after summer 2009. I want to do this largely from memory, and while I will cover the Boothroyd era for players who were there, I don't want to go back to those days more often than necessary. Players who made at least a few competitive appearances at Vicarage Road: I do do research, particularly on what the player did at other clubs, and what we were expecting when we first signed the player. But the Watford playing side of the article is predominantly based on first-hand experience of watching them. Loanees are fine. Whether they were club legends, absolutely reviled or simply bit part players, I'm happy to give anyone a go that meets the above points. My previous attempts at this included Danny Graham, Don Cowie, Will Buckley and Marvin Sordell.
I'll give JJ a go tomorrow, and hopefully post on Monday. I don't fancy doing Hoskins because people will accuse me of being unfair.
That's quite a topical one. I was very surprised to hear his views on a certain former Watford manager. Will try to spin that out in the middle to late part of the week. Some of the names mentioned are a little bit before my time I'm afraid. I was just starting school when David James left. AJ and Sadler are on my to-do list, I'll give an estimate when I'm close to writing them.
Ooo I'll bump Willo up to third on my list. JJ and Harley are quite easy to do balanced reviews about: I liked them, a lot of people didn't. MW would be a bit more like Don Cowie.
The JJ one is drafted but not polished, and will be up tomorrow. The point of this thread was to help fill the void caused by a lack of news, and ironically I've been a bit preoccupied with the latest developments at the club.
NNW, OK this is slightly O/T as I know you asked for players who left after 2009. I just couldn't resist mentioning him though even if it was a few years before that. The lad is an absolute legend at our place but not sure how you guys rated him. Kevin Phillips. Should have had a better chance with England IMO. Sorry for dragging it off track.
