What can we learn from the likes of classical military strategy to improve tactics in the modern football game?

Let me explain...football tactics have their foundations from military strategy - this is to say, battles that took place in history and what has been learnt from them has had various applications to tactics in contemporary football. For example, there are basic manoeuvres such as flanking, counter attack, and methods like zonal/man marking. I was seeking to promote a debate about what other ideas could be utilised. No need to be so rude and dismissive.

I think the ship of the line is a good attaching method as used my Nelson in the England V Frog/Spain world cup game of 1805. (England won)
Do noted he used attackers only with no defense.

Also Nelsons advesary was a fat Spanish waiter called Rafa.
What do you think of my analysis of this method of attack?

Snipers on watch towers taking shots at opposition players, managers and fans.

Quite simply - lose or die.

That did not contribute and was unnecessary. I'm trying to think up new methods to exploit to help Man Utd to win more football games and all you can do is be unconstructive. You don't always win football matches through raw ability you know - on more occasions than is recognised it is often superior thinking and strategy that triumphs.

I don't remenber whether Wellington used a zonal or man marking system at Waterloo? We could learn a lot from the Red Coats' ability to hold a line tho, and remember that you should never rely on mercenaries to do a job when the going gets tough. Tho I think Chelsea and City need to learn that lesson again...

I have it on good authority that SAF plans to deploy anti personal mines in our penalty area, that should help.

    What do you think Meth?

What do I think? That everyone here has missed a trick to help Man Utd become a better club. My comments come in the context of conceding 3 goals to Reading and no-one appears fussed. No-one here seems capable of independent thought just jumping on the bandwagon and coming up with predictable jokes that show you haven't understood what I was saying despite explaining.

Seeing as we're struggling with crosses we should employ some anti-aircraft missiles.

How's about arming Lindegaard with a American civil war gatling gun to fire at centre forwards.

Might help him deal with those crosses a bit better.
