http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/norwich-reject-bid-from-qpr-for-leroy-fer-football8421? He mentions we have no plans to offer Gary ONeill a contract and that he even came along on sentiment to Germany? Should we not be looking at getting lads ready for the season who are part of our plans or am I not getting it? Why play him last night? Unless this is fabricated nonsence and Gary is in fact getting a contract?
I think that you will find that the club has other irons in the fire ... but ... he (and they) may well think that if the worst comes to the worst and our targets all fall through then he may well get a contract of sorts - even if only a rolling one.
Caulker & Fer wont be wanting relegation again in a hurry and will give everything to avoid depressing rerun
O'Neil is also more attractive to clubs if he is seen as fit and playing. Really want Fer and hope that happens.
That's a very good point. A large number of players within the squad will have been involved in Premier League relegation battles. Hopefully they will be able to draw on this experience, understand the mistakes that can be made and avoid them. This should hold us in good stead........................I really hope somebody doesn't make a "Bump" of this quote in 10 months time showing what of b*****ks I was speaking.
or, Like Caulker with Cardiff and Remy with us, they may have negotiated 'get out of jail free' cards in their contracts if they cock it up.
or like Joey and Rob (and many others), they stay and help fight for immediate promotion - it does happen !!
Have to say that I'm beginning to feel a little more upbeat about this season, we seem to have kept the core of last seasons squad, made a couple of useful signings (still not fully convinced about Rio) and we seem to be looking at players that are the "right sort" and age bracket.....I'm sure it will soon pass!!!!
Even if O'niel's contract isn't renewed, he'll still contribute more this season than SWP. Why do we pay to take that guy on these tours at all?
This is going to get me going again about SWP , but I just have a feeling , he could be Simpson's cover for the coming season , as much as I hate the thought
Well if we are stuck paying his wages, we have to make some attempt to make use of him. I always thought he tracked back well, so maybe cover for Danny isnt that crazy an idea. He still has a fair amount of pace and energy necessary in a WB. But as always disposal is his weak link ?? But I am clutching at straws, here.
I think there is a very heavy 3 weeks ahead understanding how to play that system.. Simpson, Phillips/Hoilett and SWP all could play RWB, but who knows how well.
