Just seen this article hopefully Phelan can get the players to pull their fingers out and start performing the way we know they can play.

It's what I feel the club & the players need - someone who is prepared to give it to them straight, no beating around the bush or pussy footing around. Recent performances have been below the standards we know they are capable of, too many errors being made for soft goals. The team needs leaders on the pitch who are prepared to grab the bull by the horns, are better organised on the pitch and play with fire and passion. and get a run of wins we all want

Do we all want a good run of wins? I suspect that some on here would rather the bad run continues so that Adams gets the sack. They would have to think they were wrong if we get back in the top 6 and having nothing to moan about would go very quiet again

You may well be right, 1950. Carrabuh and others go very quiet when things are going well, but as soon as a few bad results occur, they surface again.

As for Phelan, what he says expresses an independence, but also a common vision:

“We do know what we want and we are both singing from the same hymn sheet. It’s about putting in a charge and that is possible with the quality of player we have here.”

    Precisely what is needed.

I just hope that some of this talking, all of which is very fine, will eventually manifest itself in better performances on the pitch. Adams particularly I think, has of late stopped telling it as it is, and begun telling it as he would like it to be, to keep on saying that we´re playing well enough, we just need to cut out a few mistakes, is kidding both himself, the players and the fans. One or two mistakes can be put down as an accident, but when they occur in three or four or five games in a row, there´s something slightly more wrong. Until all of the players compete for 95 mins, and none of them let their heads drop when a goal goes in against, and all of them cut out the stupid mistakes because of a lack of concentration, then Adams can talk about us still playing well enough. I hope that what he says to them is something more along those lines than what he says to us, and how refreshing it would be, if just occasionally, he said that sort of thing to the masses as well.

We´ve heard it from players as well, Martin in particular, "Watch out at the top, we´re coming after you", "Just wait till we get going" and so on and so on. Less talking more winning please, then we can start thinking about how we´re going to come after them.

does anybody actually believe this? i certainly don't believe any norwich fan ever wants his side to lose and i doubt very much cares if they are right or wrong, so long as they see their side winning or at the very least, see a positive direction the club are heading in. they might say they want to see a defeat as it might signal the end of a manager but i bet its with tongue firmly in cheek. win the game and people are happy regardless. everyone would much rather city reel off 3 straight wins and move us back into promotion contention pronto because if we don't start winning NOW - no matter how ugly - this season will be a total failure. automatic promotion should still be the goal and frankly, if we harbour any ambition to get out of this league through the right door and can't beat wigan, a side who are (much like ourselves) in diabolically bad form right now, or worse still lose, i think it will rightly be the end of the line for adams. he's got no excuses anymore. the time for talking the talk is over. if promotion is what we want (and it is), he HAS to start delivering big results on the pitch, starting this weekend. 3 points please <ok>

Not me, I want Adams to succeed and as a consequence Norwich to succeed. Whether I believe Adams can is debatable, but I think if we don't win either of the next two then it'll be time to go. The manner of the wins/defeats is also important, any sort of no show in either game let alone both and then it should definitely be curtains. I don't take any pleasure in our team failing or Adams failing, in fact as with Gunn it is all that little bit more painful to take as he's one of ours. But the good of the club comes first and Adams doesn't appear up to it.
By the converse I can see a perverse logic in wishing for defeat, where might we be now had we lost to Wet Sham last season?
I wouldn't ever truely wish for defeat but, it takes someone exceptionally blinkered to deny that just once in a while it may of helped the club, as per the example above. Short term pain for long term gain.
OMG surely just typing that makes me some lesser, evil, mongrol of a fan!

    Bah!

Short memories chaps. I can recall some fans openly saying last year that they wanted City to lose so Hughton got the sack rather than scrape the points together and Hughton kept his job. I genuinely believe that there are a couple on here - not you Supers - who have reached that stage with Adams.

Agreed with 1950. I can recall a few posts last season wanting us to lose if it got CH the boot. Well we did, we got relegated, got Adams and now we are scraping by in the Championship. Let's hope we don't manage the same trick this season.

If our form does not improve then I can see Adams back on Radio Norfolk for their Xmas review of the year with someone else in place to utilise the January window. I can't see the board shelling out more money on Adams say so.

Hopefully Howson and Hooper keep their form, Gladys comes on board, Ruddy remembers that he is an England quality keeper not a Championship journeyman and Phelan and Adams find a back four, organise it and stick with it.

it could be that some feel a defeat may be in the best interests of the club but i don't buy the thought that people actively WANT defeat for their football club, that they will be effectively supporting the opposition - as soon as the whistle goes its all about wanting city to win. and boy do we need wins, no matter who is in charge or how we play, or we'll be out of contention for promotion and looking over our shoulders at the trapdoor. we simply have to get back on track immediately.

I certainly believe it, and think you might be over-estimating the intelligence of some sections of our fanbase.

I'm not necessarily talking about anyone on here by the way, I know I have disagreements with some on this forum but generally speaking pretty much every one is reasonably leveled headed most of the time <ok>

I have pretty much given up on an auto spot this season after the last 25% of the season and losing by a single goal or blowing winning positions is now a standard Saturday afternoon.
I don't claim to know better than Adams or how if we changed a few things we will start winning I am hugely dissapointed in the attitude and hunger shown by at least 8 of the 11 in every match.
I am not seeing a team that are desperate to gain promotion the urgency is not there and the casual manner in which we keep letting in goals is as Ruddy says "Dissapointing".
The biggest fear from most on here is losing our players to bigger teams in January for me I don't see many trying hard enough and if we can make a quick buck get rid.
I was gutted to see Fer leave and feel he was our best player QPR have done well recently with him driving the team now the only two that I rate are Howson and Redmond .
Sorry to harp back to Lambo but he didn't give these bull**** soundbites every week he just mumbled a few words after a win praising the team as a whole, if Adams was truthful he would say these bunch of over paid fannies are more interested in their haircuts and Twitter personas than the job they are hugely paid to do.
We need to start buying young hungry Lg1 players and ship out our Superstar signings that seem to think they are better than this gritty league.
Only the players that actually work hard for 95 minutes should play the next match regardless of stature.

One final thing that pisses me off is the idiotic term "hit the ground running" that is all too often bandied about by your Rednapps your Nevilles your Hoddles .
The only time a person would hit the ground is if he jumped from a height ie from a parachute and they are taught to duck and roll .
If you attempt to hit the ground running your legs would buckle and cause major damage.
Until we keep the odd clean sheet talk of having the best keeper CB etc is ridiculous and we will not go up this season, we need a boring controlled 1-0 and a few convincing 4-0s like Leicester produced last term.

I am reflecting the results and attitudes of the team of late and that is one if quiet resignation.

I am happy Warky my mood is not dependant on the success of my team , just calling it as I see it we need a clear out of the dead wood and freshen things up a bit in January.
A lot can change but 1 win in over 10 games is not a blip .
Just got back from a Korean BBQ and my ringpiece resembles a Japanese flag , v spicy.

Only 3 months Warky for now but I love it here great culture and strong family values.
In England my dad lives in Ipswich my mum Spain my sister Woolpit and my extended family I rarely saw here we are always eating out with cousins sit down every meal with my inlaws and there is a real sense of comunity.
I am yet to see a black person or brown Asian and the only other white guy was a pizza chef in an Italian restaurant.
No cctv anywhere and very little crime.
