Yann M'Vila was the same. They turned down £28m for him 18 months ago so if we can pull off this it will be fantastic." On West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie: "We made an offer, but it was turned down, you have a right to offer. He's a good player."
Thing is, I've every confidence that the owners dosh will be much better spent this time round. If 'Arry can reinvigourate the likes of SWP, Green and Bothroyd, he ain't gonna let the Remis and M'Vilas of this world come in and sit back. Shame about Cisse though. Not worth a light.
Mackie has been recalled by every manager so I don't worry for him. I don't worry for the other 2 but that's for (in)different reasons.
Its great business getting two top class players for 1/3rd of their real value. Its looking a good decision as we look like were turning the corner, it would have been stupid to do this under Hughes.
