About time someone said it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/scotland/34779630 Reminds me of the whole "deferred success" idea for exams that came along after "non-competitive sports".
Always play your best team and try to win every game. If there's suspensions, injuries and loss of form then change it if you need to. Don't bring in half a dozen new players to "see how they do" and "give them experience". You don't want a confused team playing together. You bring one player in for a reason and it's easier for them to have ten players around them who are settled.
Agree with all 3 of yous - Ricardo, Strachan & Peter. You might want to blood a young'un if you're 3 goals up with 20 minutes to play however.
It goes deeper than football, how on earth some of us got to the age we did without all the PC bollocks around today I'll never know. Kids today can't breath without some jobsworth citing the dangers of actually breathing. And as for being no losers in competitive sports don't get me started on that one, our school football team got a right thumping a few times but we never sulked or whinged about it we lost and that was the end of it until the next game. When I watch a modern day game on TV and see all the diving and cheating going on I often think if this it a product of a no risk culture due in many incidences to PC. Having watched schoolkids football of today and parents ranting like some Mourinho on speed at their kids it seems that football isn't the fun it used to be when I played.
Pro footballers arnt really role model material . Every one of them will cheat to get a tiny advantage of any kind - Sportmanship and fair play is so freakish its shared on social media as if Jesus has just milked an onion !! It doesn't really matter how much the player is earning either , they will still roll around like a tazered American carjacker . If kids need to learn anything , it's cheating pays off and being a cunning bastard can be a good thing in life
It's competitive dads rather than competitive games that are the problem. Kids should be enjoying football or what's the point?
