Not me, yet to find any gold or anything Viking for that matter. Wonder how many of you lot are of Viking origin. You know England formed from a merger of Anglo Saxon and Viking kingdoms so technically anywhere the Vikings owned belongs to us.
Is it not that if it is treasure the poor **** gets nowt Jack? Whats with the Peelers on the Springfield Rd btw? Slackjaw march?
I don't know about Ireland but in England and Wales the finder tends to share any reward with the landowner 50:50 unless some other agreement was signed beforehand. I have had 3 items declared treasure trove, 2 I got back and 1 is in a museum. I declined my reward for that given that it was only valued at £35. When I say "reward": as an item goes through the treasure trove process it will be valued and then museums are invited to purchase the item. If none wish to then the finder gets it back.
You don't have to register, you should see 144 items. There should be more but the archaeologists take ages to add them. The top 2 (cufflink and rapier handle) are treasure items I got back.
