I think by now we have all heard these stories of foreign owners wanting to get rid of relegation.

Below are the foreign owners in the Premiership:

    • Aston Villa (Randy Lerner)
    • Blackburn (Venky's Group)
    • Chelsea (Roman Abramovich)
    • Fulham (Mohamed Al Fayed)
    • Liverpool (Fenway Sports Group)
    • Manchester United (Glazer family)
    • Manchester City (Sheikh Mansour)
    • Sunderland (Ellis Short)
    • QPR (Tony Fernandes)
    • *Arsenal's Stan Kroenke is a majority shareholder

Now I have read a few articles, and this is what it says about Richard Bevan:

Bevan had earlier claimed a group of American and Asian owners wanted to abolish relegation because of the hugh losses of income suffered by clubs dropping out of the top flight.

So my question to you is, which owners do you think would be up for this. Personally I think its a load of s**t...

BUT the owners I can say requesting this are ones who own teams who are in the s**t at the minute.
So my guess would be Blackburns and ours Ellis Short.

    What do you all think??

It wont come into effect till next season (if at all) so why would Ellis want it now, if as most think, we may go down, we wont be able to get back up.

its a none starter anyway, its not like the NFL, we have 92 professional teams, and 82 of those would love to get into the PL and 14 would love to stay in the PL. (obviously all 20 would but cant see the top 8 dropping out of it any time soon)

Silly idea, they do it in Rugby League too and that looks a joke from what I've seen on Sky Sports News. Also didn't they say a few months ago on dispatches that only 5 teams in the Premier League are British owned.

Rugby League is ridiculous. Every two years the teams in the league have to apply for a 'license' as well, which can be turned down and redistributed in the 'second division'. Crusaders have been in Super League for 3 years, they were ****e the first year, OK last year and dire again this season. They just shouldn't be in the top-flight of Rugby League.

You just beat me to the punch AJMADDISON. I find the whole idea simply abhorant. What incentive will the smaller clubs in England have if there is no chance of gaining promotion to the Premier League. I remember back in the 60's watching my home town team, South Shields play Wigan Athletic in th Northern Premier League, and look where Wigan are now.
No supporter wants to see their team relegated but we live in a cut throat world, the strong survive and the weak go under, some even go out of existance, take Bradford P.A. as an example. Entrepreneurs who have a little cash to spare and buy a lower club will disappear because they will know that no matter how well they do they will not achieve the "HolyGrail" which is the Premier League.
I honestly feel that should this abhorant idea ever come about then it will be the death knell of football as we know it. It should be consigned to where it belongs, in the dust bin. Maybe someone could start a poll and we will be able to judge supporters views on this. Unfortunately my computer skills or lack of precludes me from this task.

Wait until April and we'll decide whether it's a good idea or not

I think that abolishing relegation would be a ludicrous idea. However, I do think that teams coming into the Premiership should have to meet certain criteria regarding facilities etc.
