Apparently Liverpool are in talks with Roberto Martinez, with Dave Whelan's blessing. So,it could all happen for Bobbie. Good luck to him,I say.
Liverpool also want to Interview our Brenden too !! Think Liverpool could be a career breaker for these managers IMO.
Liverpool's owners are also the owner's of the Boston Red Sox baseball club, a perenially lame, also ran, collapse in the final third of the season kinda club - a track record that goes back over 100 years except for one single season a few years back. Looks like their bad vibe has translated to Liverpool. If there was anyway to deny Liverpool access to BR per contract I would, or get BR to categorically state not interested as soon as possible - anything else is just begging for aggravation and distraction. Put another way, utter inept nonsense on one club's part should not become a headache on our part. This ability of one club to pray on another club's contracted non-playing staff is just destructive and detrimental to the game as a whole. I undertand it's freedom of labour blah, blah, blah ... but if you have a contract honor it or terminate it, but don't stress or **** on your current employer - in other words apply for the job but assume the risk of not being hired. We're talking about key personnel here, not one odd employee in a rank of tens, hundreds, or thousands. If your wife was hanging on to you while "applying for a job" somewhere else, how would you feel. And, irony of irony, Martinez - the loyal one - is now going to interview with Liverpool and ditch Wigan - despite Whelan's "blessing" it's still an amusing twist of fate.
I think dodgy dave's rush to release this news tonight is an attempt to spook Liverpool out of the process, so they don't give the impression of being bounced into hiring the brown-shoed one. I personally hope honest bob will get the job at Liverpool. He's such an honest guy, as we all know so well down here...
roberto is hot property in the managerial world and what he has done in wigan with average players has not gone unnoticed, If he gets the chance at liverpool with better players and more transfer money then he is on to a winner,....uncle dave cant really not give his blessing as liverpool are huge and only need a good manager at the helm and martinez can be that man to take liverpool forward into the modern way of playing the game....,......
Whoever gets the liverpool job is in a no win situation, as young royston found out, liverpool is not the job it once was either if i was brendan i would stay where he is for a few seasons continue to build his rep. The liverpool job is a poisoned chalice because those yanks will be expecting an instant return
Good point that. The manager/chairman relationship is crucial, and both brown-shoes and Brendan have excellent relationships with their chairmen. In contrast, the Liverpool chairman is 7000 miles away and will be on his 3rd manager in 18 months. I wouldn't touch the Liverpool job with a barge pole!
Also a bit ironic that finally, after 3 years at Wigan, Bobby has finally got them playing how he wants with the prospect of not spending the whole of next season in the relegation zone.
dont talk daft any manager out of the top 4 teams would jump at the chance to manage a team like Liverpool,,,it what managerial dreams are made of....
You're all wrong. Liverpool have appointed Ken Dodd as their new manager so they dont have to change the initials on the tracksuit.
Any manager would be a fool not to take the Liverpool job , that being said I think Roberto or Brendan would fail miserably if either took it . Martin O'Neill would be the perfect Liverpool replacement IMO , if he could be lured away from Sunderland .
Aswan, It's an acronym that probably best describes me mate, also a song by an Aussie entertainer called Kevin Bloody Wilson, have a listen on YouTube you'll love it. Anyway for what it's worth Dilligaf stands for, Do I Look Like I Give A Fcuk. Hope you like the song.
I hope the best for Robbo, but I don't think this is the right job for him or Liverpool. He'll want to convert them to our glorious way of playing and they are not ready for that in their current form. I reckon they'll hire someone proven with a big club; maybe even take Rafa Benitez back. Just don't take Brendan D:
James Pearce ‏@JamesPearceEcho #LFC awaiting response from Swansea after making approach for Brendan Rodgers. Martinez and Rodgers just 2 of names to be spoken to. ?? What do you think Swansea fans
Amazing how a manager's career can turn in a moments notice . Two months ago , Whelan was threatening to call Roberto on to the carpet , now he has to call him to give him permission to talk to Liverpool !!
