Stop hounding Fox

I somehow think Foxy wouldn't have got caught out playing the Wigan scorer onside today, not because he is a better player, but because he has been around the block a bit longer than Luke, who will have learned a lesson today and I bet he is doesn't repeat the mistake.

Yes but Fox wouldn't have made some of the brilliant runs that Luke Shaw made and even if he had ventured forwards, I can promise you he wouldn't have tracked back even half as quickly as young Luke did. ;)

The opinions of Fox's ability seem to vary. I'm not a great fan myself, and am greatly surprised if he gets through a game without one howler, at this level, so was pleasently suprised, as mentioned earlier in the thread.. On the forum, the variables seem to range from the he'll do as backup, to the my sphincter tightens every time he goes near the ball [no pun intended]. But none of us appear to be hounding the poor fellow, as he most certainly puts in a shift, misguided as it may be occasionally.

I don't think we do HOUNDING on this forum. Do we..? ;)

Not all of us "hound", but some are guilty. No-one in a Saints shirt should be hounded, imo, as long as they are doing their best. Fox works like ****; his best may not always be good enough. Simple, but I refuse to give the guy grief. He has given his best for Saints, and that's enough for me. I take the very easy line; Luke Shaw is a better player. This does not mean I won't support Fox whenever he is played.

Wouldn't be so sure; Fox made a glaring error in the first game of the season against Man City on a corner, where he too got caught standing in space.

I can't understand the idea that Shaw was at fault for not playing him offside... To play him offside he would have had to left the post when the ball was half way there from the corner. If they had a header at goal and Luke left the post and it went in his corner, he would have been at fault for not doing his job. The only time you leave the post is if the corner is too deep or it is cleared, if anything what he did wrong was getting half-way to playing him off-side, if he had stayed on his post he might have gotten out to pressure Maloney. Only real people at fault for me are Jos for not winning the header, and whoever was marking Maloney.

Not meaning to vent at you Don, just seen that said several times, including on MotD and can't understand it for the life of me.
