What is the medias obsession with Swansea and hatred of Norwich. After every match Swansea get a point or win the media bums them and says how brilliant they were. After their win against Villa 606 was going on about how great they were constantly and today on talksport one topic of conversation was "are Swansea the best ever promoted team?" We are ahead of them in the league!!!!!!!!!!!! ahhhhhh, its stupid. Just because they tippy tap it around for ages going nowhere (boring to watch) we play more attacking entertaining football than them and tonked them earlier in the season. The media have an agenda against us and wont give us credit. Although at least everyone agrees QPR are ****e! Going downnnnnn (like Ipshit)
i agree, i find their football pretty dull most of the time but what does it matter if they praise swansea or not? we have been praised far more than i expected to be this season. lordy, even lawrenson praised us once!!
Norwich are getting enough credit in my eyes and Swansea deserve their plaudits. They play good football and have brought sensible players. Their squad is balanced and has sufficient depth. Unlike QPR that brought stars that unsettle the balance of the club and can't buy a win subsequently. I say good luck to them, I've got a lot of respect for what Brendan Rodgers has done there.
It's a regional thing, there hasn't been a Welsh team up in the top flight for years. You should be used to this by now? Remember Leeds in League One? about half the clubs in the Championship? The media don't like us, to be honest I don't care and like it that way it takes the heat off us.

Swansea are playing well, and they're picking up results against decent teams, thats what gets them the media attention. Villa are an established premier league side, and beating them 2-0 on their own patch is impressive, especially the way in which they did it. That was no fluke win against a 9 man chelsea. I think it'd be interesting to compare how both Norwich and Swansea did against the same teams, I would imagine that Swansea have had more wins against 'better' opposition, but had draws when they should be hoping to beat worse teams, whilst we've faired better against teams further down the league. It wouldn't surprise me if they finish above us in the league, and they deserve the credit for how they're playing. The less media attention we get the better, I don't think the team care what MOTD think about them, praise from Lambert will be more important. Keeping our players out of the press also helps keep the vultures away.
Its annoying to listen to the radio and not see us getting any decent credit whilst Swansea get a completely over the top amount. I like to hear our team get praise when we are doing well. We get compared to Blackpool and scoffed at saying we'll plummet like them whilst swansea get called swansealona
I think we've had plenty of praise for the way we've played this season, and for what's been achieved. Got to be honest though, I couldn't care less if the media ignore us for the rest of the campaign, as long as we stay up.
I am happy but I want to be happier. Its lazy journalism and it irritates me. Wouldnt bother me if neither of us got no credit but the extreme amount they get compared to us is disrespectful
i don't get it. i think we've received an awful lot of praise this season. why does it matter if someone thinks swansea are the better team? all about opinions...
There's a simple answer to this. The first and pretty much only question a media person asks is "Where's the bigger audience for our twaddle (er, insightful comments)?" That's what governs air time and column inches. Can you just imagine if Celtic and/or Rangers were admitted to the PL; we wouldn't get a mention, ever, even if we beat them!
I agree totally, Lawro not only praised us, he praised Paul Lambert in particular PC - I'll keep an eye, so long as no disrespect is shown to Swansea, I'll let it run!
Good thread this WLH, but I disagree. You might have heard one piece of lazy journalism, but in general I think we're definately getting the credit we deserve. This is just one example (admittedly from a legend) of the BBC praising us. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16252650.stm We also got praise heaped on us when lost to Chelsea and Man U which I thought was really refreshing.
I don't think I've heard anyone deny the incredible performance of your club this season, canaries. Lambert is a superb manager that plays to your strengths and has created a team of team players, not superstars. You deserve immense credit for your current league position and will hopefully remain around the same position come the season's end. However, to try and answer the OP's question, you are a far bigger club than us, with a far more successful history and larger fan base. Yes, you had a rotten few seasons a couple of years back and yes, it is an achievement to win back to back promotions, but in some sense I think a lot of people kind of feel that you are back in a position where you belong. Us Swans, on the other hand, are reaching for the impossible. It was only 8 years ago that we were fighting to stay in the football league, playing hoofball under journeymen managers, and struggling to reach crowds of 3 thousand, so it is surely correct to believe that our current position is far more unlikely, and therefore far more noticeable, than yourselves. Our tippy-tappy style, as those jealous types decide to call it, is the fundamental root of why most footballers become footballers; to kick a ball with their feet. Not their head, or their chest, or gamble on winning lady-luck second balls. It is a style that went out of fashion when football became big business in the 90's; make a mistake whilst playing a pass-and-move game and it is glaringly obvious, there is no where to hide, whilst if you hoof the ball into the opponents half and box all game, and if you don't score or win, you can correctly label yourself as just being unlucky. Our team adopted the possession and passing game in league 1, where we romped to the title, carried on the style for three years in the Championship, improving our league position with each season, and now it is holding us in good shape in the toughest league in the world. I, and most Swans fans, will make no apologies for our comparisons with Barcelona. They are wholly justified. Of course, their skill, technique, and individual performance is vastly superior to where we are now, however they play, not just with a style, but with a footballing philosophy; new players and managers are sourced and appointed with regards to sharing their philosophy, and that is exactly what Swansea City FC has done ever since Martinez left us. I believe the plaudits that we receive are of huge significance, not just to us, but to the footballing community as a whole, as they represent a celebration of attractive, confident, stylish, football, achieved without an exuberant war chest of funds. We are, quite rightly, an inspiration for many clubs in many leagues, and when the bottom finally falls out of football's financially leaking bucket, we'll still be here playing "boring" tippy-tappy football and earning plaudits for sticking to our principles. I wonder what Man City's footballing philosophy will be when the millions are removed?
Editorial bias and subediting are just accidents. I worked in the newspaper industry and the fourth estate is full of wannabe writers. And at the end of the day, editorial content is just there to keep the adverts apart. We used to edit stories just to make them fit, not make any sense. The rest is just in the movies. Take MOTD last night for instance. They showed very little of our game. Fair enough. But most people I work with thought, from viewing said programme, that QPR were all over us and we snatched two breakaway goals. I doubt its because they dislike us. They just made the match fit the time slot. "Give me five minutes of the game" says an editor. Hansen and Shearer then add the colour only on the part the viewers see and you have your programme. I quite like Swansea. They are very much like us. Good players and a good manager and are showing that the Prem is not all they would have us believe. I hope they stay up which I'm sure they will.
