Apologies if duplicated but don't think I've seen it posted before. This might explain why the bookies are fairly heavily favouring Bolton to go down instead of us. Stoke home wins: 8 including some of the big clubs like Liverpool and Tottenham. Stoke home draws: 7 including Man United and Chelsea. Stoke home losses: Just four for the whole season so far. Newcastle, Sunderland, WBA and, of course, the Mighty Hoops. How the hell did we win that one?! If Stoke remain professional and play as they should, it is a big ask for Bolton to win this game at Fortress Brittania. In case any Potters reading thread, well done! Enviable home record which we will seek to emulate next season.
Thing I got out of yesterday's game RTID is if Stoke are that hard to break down away from home, Bolton should have their work cut out getting a win at the Brittania. In Crouch, Walters and/or Jerome, Stoke have a cutting edge that is likely to be asking questions of Bolton's iffy defence for the entire 94 minutes. Of course, being the final day of the season, anything can and no doubt will happen... but Stoke away's a big ask for anyone, that's a fact - and one on which our premiership future now entirely depends.
On the never won on the final day post, to be fair we have played Utd away wanting to win the leagu, arsenal wanting champions league (also away, and we did score) and the only poor result wigan which needed to win and we had nothing to play for. If i were you i still would be more worried than you are, knowing Stoke we wont bother.going to win, sadly.
The thing that worries me is the teams they're losing to at home, Sunderland, WBA, QPR. Bolton are arguably "one" of the teams that fall under the category that may be able to win at the Britannia. I fear that Stoke perform against the top teams at home but struggle more so against the lesser teams. Wigan survived with a win at the Britannia last year, but hopefully Bolton's lack of form will play into our hands.
Im worried, Bolton are going to be lifted and ready working 110% to get the win, Stoke - half hearted, not playing for anything. Us, there is no way city are going to let us get anything if there is a title at risk. My prediction, Relegated. Stoke 0 - 2 Bolton
No, its a fair enough question. It's hard to watch but it's my club and i love it so just being in the premier league and playing the teams we are is brilliant for me. Obviously i would like us to improve but we all know under TP it will never happen.
Fair answer! You got one of the goals of the season too. But you definetely need to complete your season with a convincing Win!
Obviously hope you are wrong, as I am sure you do too. It's about professional integrity for me. Pullis, very fairly said that Stoke would play to their utmost against both teams. On the basis of their display at LR, I think they will do just that. Then there is the Crouch factor. A few of my friends have commented that his efforts on Sunday were professional but perhaps only 99% committed?? Just wondered, that's all. Then there's the 5:0 at Reebok. Surely they will want to play for that alone? It is going to be a very long week indeed.
Charlton fans thought they needed someone other than Curbishly to get them above mid table in the PL....
Arguably, Stoke had nothing to play for against us, yet they gave us a really hard time, even resorting to time-wasting tactics from the early stages. I may be wrong but everything I've seen and heard suggests they will give it a good go against Bolton, especially as it is their last home match of the season. We must be favourites to stay up, although I recognise that favourites often lose out.
I am worried about that. Could it be that stoke is a team without true sportmanship and refused to fight a win to their supporters in the last match of the season? Well ,wba showed what they are made of in a same situation and i hope sincerely the stoke act just like them. Naturally bolton have ten thousand times easier job to win at britannia than we even could get a draw from etihad. In our case is somewhat easy to go and play at etihad because nobody and i mean nobody in the whole wide world dont expect us to snatch a point from there. That just fair enough neither do i... The point is that the reason why i feel confident is the bolton themselves. Ive seen three of their last matches ,and their defence have looked shaky and nervous. In the wba match they cracked like a dry bisquit after leading luckily 2-0. If stoke happens to take the lead in the match i believe bolton goes to pieces and it makes their chances to survive very difficult. Mind you there have been so many twist and turns in the top and in the bottom of the table so lets wait those anxious days before we all surely know.
Marc Bircham said that he spoke to some of the Stoke players after yesterdays game, and they said that they will be going all-out for the win. They went on to say that watching Wigan celebrate on their pitch really hurt and they don't want to ruin their final day celebrations for their fans again.
The Stoke fans will make sure our players work 100 per cent to beat bolton, don't worry about that, Stoke owe the fans a home win on the last day.
