You miss Rooney big time, as he helps the midfield control games.
It was always going to be tough no matter who we put out though with the form Rooney is in it could have made a difference.

Do ESPN pay Burley? The guy is a joke.
Blames De Gea for not coming for Stoke's goal when there was no chance he could come then when De Gea comes and claims a cross a few minutes later shifting Rio out the way he says "that was risky, De Gea could of taken his eye of the ball" LOL

If stoke came away with 3 points United wouldn't have felt too hard done by. Rooney or not this was a tough tie, and I heard on another thread on here a mention of 4 0.
Least ye got the point, at the moment a point at Stoke is a good point earned.
2 penaltys and a red card not given. remember this when everyone says we get all the good decisions

Actually if we'd come away with nothing I'd have felt pretty hard done by given we had most of the possession, could have had a penalty or two, and a harsher ref might have sent Whelan off for that lunge on Evra. But then again if we'd come away with nothing we'd have had only ourselves to blame, much like Liverpool a week ago imo.
My jaesus teh bitter bile because Stoke didn't submit. Pathetic. They were the better team by a slight margin on the day and you oh yeah, blame the ref, it is always the ref when United lose![]()
I don't think he's bitter at all, IMO what he's trying to say is that when it comes to 50/50 decisions we don't get them all the time and so the next time the tin foil hat brigade start up they should remember this game.
I do agree that Stoke were good value for their point by the way.
A little harsh, but no big injustice. Thats my point, hard done by but not too hard done by. Lots of useless posession is what is says on the tin. Stoke were more effective with theirs and should have got 2 maybe 3
Ah sure penalties, some you get some you dont, supporters of thelarger clubs cannot really complain

Neutral's perspective:
Baring in mind United had an 100% record against Stoke since they've been in the Premier League (before today), I'd say a point for Stoke would do them just fine.
A very open game and United did well to deal with the high balls and crosses etc. The Britannia is by no means an easy place to come to and a draw is a pretty good result, to be honest. United fans should be happy with that, especially when it wasn't their full strength side being fielded out on the pitch.
In the second half, Stoke edged it, as they were fairly disciplined and compact defensively but created chances at the other end, too. Crouch missed a couple of sitters, but his hold-up play and strength was surprisingly very good.
I think Woodgate took a huge risk when he went through the back of Hernandez. He got the ball first IMO but it wasn't a smart decision because if he'd got that one wrong or if the ref was less lenient, Stoke could have been down to 10 men and conceded a penalty. For me, it wasn't a penalty, but Woodgate should avoid making challenges like that again. Very fortunate.
De Gea made some outstanding saves, particularly from Wilkinson's and Walters' efforts.
All in all, a draw was a fair result IMO but Lady Luck was with Stoke yesterday![]()
