STOKE v WATFORD From The Guardian: please log in to view this image Personally, I´d like to see Holebas in for Aké and Guedioura in for Anya. Watford travel to Stoke with the ignominious title of being the lowest scorers in the league having only managed six goals in nine games. Despite being comparatively strong in defence, Quique Sánchez Flores’s side could struggle against Stoke who are building up a quiet head of steam after Monday’s win at Swansea. If victorious on Saturday Stoke should move into the top half of the table. Although, other journalists reckon Geudioura will get some game time and maybe Oulare too. We need to build on the half decent start we have had, I echo QSF opinion here - http://www.wdsport.co.uk/2015/10/quique-we-are-not-happy-we-want-more/ A bit of news from Stoke´s side - http://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/Stok...-warns-Prodl/story-28041871-detail/story.html Finally, from the BBC, what the managers have said, Watford head coach Quique Sanchez Flores on playing against Mark Hughes in Spain: "He was there for one year at Barcelona. He was stronger than me. He crashed hard into players, I remember that, He was a very tough opponent. But fortunately we are not playing against Mark Hughes. We know they are a good team and that it's a good period for Stoke. It is a difficult stadium to play but we need to be positive." Stoke manager Mark Hughes: "I read what [Flores] said and had a little smile to myself. We probably won't be able to impact the game on the day as much as we did back then, but hopefully the work we have put in this week will enable us to make it another difficult afternoon for him and his team on Saturday. Back-to-back wins at this level is huge, and we have seen how different the outlook of our season is now compared to what it was just three or four weeks ago." Thanks a lot Mex for the thread. Getting a few people saying that Berghuis and Holebas have not joined the squad for this game as they are not thought to be fit enough
Nice thread Mex. Based on his appearance against Arsenal, Berghuis will be no loss. I'd like to see Guedioura given some game time.
If we lose, then only one point in four. Stoke are on form though, it will need a great performance or a bit of luck to win. Tough in the Prem, still above safety though!!
Thanks Mex. Merson's got us down to lose 2-0 and guess what, Lawrenson's got the same. I've got one of those feelings and think we'll get a draw today 1-1. Swansea was the last game I felt strangely confident about...on another note, took the plunge yesterday and bought one of the ten match season tickets the club were offering. Starts 28 Dec v Spurs so will save my pennies and not go before then. £250 for me and my son in the Family Stand. Prem football for two people for £25 per game-can't say fairer than that!
Watfordfc line-up : Gomes (GK); Nyom, Cathcart, Britos, Ake; Capoue, Watson; Abdi, Deeney (c), Anya; Ighalo. Watfordfc subs : Arlauskis (GK), Prödl, Paredes, Behrami, Guedioura, Ibarbo, Diamanti.
Stoke City XI : Butland; Johnson, Cameron, Wollscheid, Pieters; Adam, Whelan; Shaqiri, Bojan, Arnautovic; Joselu.
Seems it is tactical. Prodl has been warming up and looks fit. Martin Atkinson is refereeing today… …and that’s not a good omen for Watford. The Hornets have never won a Premier League game in which Atkinson has officiated. The Bradford born referee also took charge of the Playoff Final, awarding THAT penalty for Crystal Palace…
