STOKE will face Brescia in sport's supreme court on Thursday to try to finally secure compensation for Hungarian midfielder Adam Vass. City's chief executive Tony Scholes will appear before the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland to argue they are entitled to a six-figure sum for the 22-year-old. Vass turned down a new contract at the Britannia Stadium four years ago, when he was 18, and instead joined the Italian Second Division side. They were subsequently promoted to Serie A, but were relegated last term when Vass made 20 appearances. City are adamant they are due compensation under FIFA rules because Vass was under 24 when he moved. Stoke have been chasing the cash since losing Vass, and are now hopeful of finally succeeding. Scholes said: "We didn't receive any training compensation from Brescia. We believed at the time we were due compensation and our legal advice since then is that we have, at the very least, a very strong case. "We have been unable to agree anything with Brescia, so have taken this through the various levels at FIFA to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne. "There are three judges and we are told it could take a month for them to let us know the outcome of the claim. "We want what we believe we are entitled to. Adam was a player we took from Hungary; he trained with us for two-and-a-half years and he did very well. "We would have liked him to stay, but he signed for Brescia and has done very well for them, playing at least 100 games for them. "Morally, we are 100 per cent in the right. Because of this, we felt compelled to take it all the way. But our claim is being determined by what is, in effect, a law court." Vass turned down a contract at City after being told by his national manager that he needed to play regular first-team football. The central midfielder, who signed for City from Ferencvaros in 2004, never made a first-team appearance for the Potters, although he was an unused substitute. Vass became Stoke's youngest ever full international when, aged just 18, he made his debut for Hungary in a 1-0 victory over Canada in November 2006.
