Euro 2012 Defender Lines Up At Torquay TONY PULIS included a Polish international trialist in his Stoke City line-up for the pre-season game against Torquay United at Plainmoor. Full-back Sebastian Boenisch was the surprise name in the Potters’ line-up as they began the next stage of their preparations in the south west. Boenisch, who played for Poland in the Euro 2012 Finals, had become a free agent during the summer after his contract expired at Werder Bremen. The one notable absentee from City’s squad was defender Robert Huth, so Matthew Upson lined up alongside Ryan Shawcross once again. Shawcross had shrugged off the knee problem which had forced him to be substituted at half time in the game against Sporting Kansas City. Andy Wilkinson had recovered from a hamstring strain picked up in the United States to take his place among the substitutes. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...e-transfers-sebastian-boenisch-poland-1228189 Stoke are set to sign Poland’s highly-rated Euro 2012 defender Sebastian Boenisch. The left-back has arrived for talks and is set to sign on a free transfer after his contract with Germans Werder Bremen expired. Boenisch wants to come to the Premier League and has also spoken to West Ham - as well as teams on the continent – but the Potters are poised to pounce. https://twitter.com/reluctantnicko/status/232560919958409216 Something Alan Nixon who did the above story put on his Twitter about him. Alan Nixon ‏@reluctantnicko @TonySaysTriffic It's a trial but will be a quick decision. Brought him in last night, stuck him in game. If he does ok, he probably signs.
I winced when I saw 6'3" defender - I'll be honest! However, 5 years in the Bundesleague, spells at U20 & U21 for th Germany national team and now a full inernational for Poland bodes well. In addition he is still young at 25 and is alledged to be a LEFT BACK!!!!!!! lets hope TP doesnt play him upfront with Mamba
