i worked out if we win and wigan lose against spurs we will be mathematical safe if wigan lose one of there final 4 matches with include arsenal and if they get a draw in one game they can only get the same points as us with arsenal still we need one win at stoke or in the other games but if they lose to spurs and lose another one and we draw 2 out our last games wigan will need to win all there games to match our point with arsenal still to play so thats why i think if wigan lose on saturday and we win we are safe. if wigan lose 2 games they can only get 9 points

I think we'll have a better chance of getting a win here than Villa home.

Looking at West Brom's form, I think that actually might be our best chance of a win. They have virtually nothing to play for

I don't want to think of that scenario if we lose to Stoke and Villa!

Hate to burst your bubble andy, but if we win and wigan lose were not mathematicaly safe as they still have 4 games to play after saturday and the gap will only be 10 points <ok>

I think getting a point would be extremely beneficial. Not just because of the point, just keeping another team between us and Wigan/Villa. Of course a win is even better.

i did say if they lose 1 more game after losing to spurs if you read it properly this is what it said:

i worked out if we win and wigan lose against spurs we will be mathematical safe if wigan lose one of there final 4 matches

Usually it's the teams in the middle which are less motivated now
    Look at us last season
I agree rob, tomorrow and villa will be battles

As I have said on previous threads, a draw in each of the next two games would be a great outcome. i fancy the win against West Brom but it will be a bit nervy by then. I fear the Villa game to be honest.

IF (very big IF) we beat Stoke, and Wigan & Villa both lose this weekend, we are mathematically safe unless their final game is a draw. (They have to play each other. If Wigan win that game, Villa could only get a maximum of 40 points. If Villa win, Wigan could only get a maximum of 40 points. If they drew with each other, they could both get 41, if they both won the rest of their matches.)

...IF.....ah, the biggest word in the English language. no matter how much you hypothesize future results, expect the unexpected. to paraphrase Monty Python.
