Stuart James ‏@StuartJamesGNM 24m Full marks to Stoke - because of increased TV revenue they're offering free coach travel to all PL away games. Will other clubs follow suit? Whilst this would seriously hurt the likes of ALS and Seventy3 for their away day coaches, this would surely mean a massive increase in the fans going to support the team? Fantastic Idea by them imo
In other news - Stoke have announced only 1 new signing - Someone on a free as they are spending most of their extra money on coach trips for away games! Difference between them and us is that we sell out our away end everywhere. Stoke don't get anywhere near the following we do so it makes sense for them to do it but wouldn't for us
Not necessarily, the club could hire the coaches from these and maybe subsidise the costs, would help us but take cash away from building and maintain a better squad/team. other point is apart from costs our away supporters are phenomenal and the envy of many a premier club... Keep it up Lads.
Works for clubs with poor away following. Bar 4 or 5 teams the away turn out that turn up at the sol is pathetic. Some struggle to bring 1000 so a scheme like this might help sell tickets. Which will earn the home team money too
I think even the most ardent Stoke fans would admit that their away following is dismal, and this is obviously Stoke's way of trying to rectify this.
Totally agree but with Pullis's away tactics for the last 5 years who can blame them. I personally think they will have a good season with a manager who will right, one big big mistake..
I remember stoke bringing around 100 fans last season, embarrassing really. I've known us to take more at reserve games to be fair
Only ever brought fans in their 100's going back years. They speak of the Brit like it's a do all and end all but in reality if they do go down then it's back to the 12000 gates and a Middlesbrough all over..
