http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/story-12891058-detail/story.html PETER Coates believes Stoke are close to agreeing a fee for Birmingham duo Scott Dann and Cameron Jerome. However, the Stoke chairman also warns that a deal is far from sealed because the Potters are still to agree terms with the players. He said: "We have made an offer and are hoping to do a deal that will satisfy both clubs. "It is my understanding we were very close to a deal, but then you still have to sort things out with the players. These things can take forever. "You have to have other irons in the fire because so many things can go wrong. "Sometimes you think you have a deal and it doesn't happen. "As one agent once said, 'the truth today may not be the truth tomorrow'." Stoke have been in negotiations with Birmingham for weeks over central defender Dann and striker Jerome, both aged 24. They have also registered an interest in Reading's central defender Matthew Mills as they consider their options in the summer transfer market. However, The Sentinel understands the club has not tabled offers for Manchester United defenders Wes Brown and John O'Shea, who are both wanted by Sunderland. Stoke's attempts to bolster their strike force have led to a bid of around £3m for West Ham's England international Carlton Cole. That deal rises substantially after appearances and other incentives, but has been turned down by the Hammers, who are said to want nearer £5m. City are also likely to show an interest in Wales international Craig Bellamy after trying to sign him on loan from Manchester City last summer. Bellamy instead moved back to South Wales to spend the season in the Championship on loan with Cardiff. The versatile forward is surplus to requirements at Eastlands, but Celtic have emerged as early favourites for his signature. However, both Celtic and Stoke would have to do a deal with Manchester City over the player's wages. Bellamy is understood to be on £90,000 a week â a figure neither Celtic nor Stoke could match. Bellamy, who turns 32 next week, scored 11 goals in 35 games for Cardiff last season. Stoke manager Tony Pulis wants to bring in competition for last-season's 12-goal joint-top scorers Jon Walters and Kenwyne Jones. City aren't sure when Ricardo Fuller will be available after he ruptured an Achilles tendon in April. Mama Sidibe will also miss the start of the season after snapping his Achilles tendon in February. Stoke return for pre-season training tomorrow and depart on Friday for a six-day trip to Austria. But they have made clear they are prepared to wait until much closer to the August 31 transfer deadline to sign players if necessary.
Can't see the logic in buying someone as **** as Jerome when you have enough workhorses but Pulis has been good at getting the best out of players like him in the past.
After disagree stokies, jerome will be perfect for SCFC, only 24, runs the channels works ard, perfect player for a TP SCFC forward
I am disappointed at the seemingly inevitable signing of Jerome but I will get behind him like I do for every Stoke player. If Pulis gets him playing at his best then he may be a good signing but I still feel we need another striker of better pedigree and a much better scoring record.
IF we sign Jerome WHERE exactly is he going to play? Jones and especially Walter's were fantastic last season. Honestly, I would rather we paid out the Five Million West Ham are asking for Carlton Cole, I would take him before Jerome ANY DAY. Tony, you must be mad. Just hope that, IF we do sign him he can score the goals but going by his record at Birmingham More chance we sign Lionel Messi I think which = didley squat. One question I would like to ask T.P. WHY not go for Jermaine Defoe? before looking at player's like Jerome, to me it's madness personified! Get a grip T.P. Belllamy yes, Cole fair enough, Dann fine but we've got two great C halfs and are wll looking at midfield player's?
Welcome back Potts Jones wasn't came good at the end of the season but Walters you can't fault his performances everygame were exceptional.I would like someone with a physical presence up front someone who can hold the ball up and bring other players into play.Jerome not for me but someone with pace and Body strength you only get a few chances and they need to be put away. We need midfield players who shoot from distance to get on the score sheet.
TP does not have a clue when it comes to the transfer market and this once again highlights the fact!
Conroy Correct, I meant Walter's. I honestly think we need a Defoe type player/s. Half a chance and they score. Jones didn't "do it" often enough for me, and I'm sure Jerome wouldn't. I'm worried MORE about the midfield how long do we all have too bang on about it. Until T.P. see's that's the real problem we have. Defence with another full back is fine. With Jones/Walters and ONE other DECENT striker we're fine. Apart from a "playmaker midfield" or two which isn't looking likely. I'm worried about this season cos we can't keep on playing away and giving the ball away too easily. Same old same old UNLESS we sort the midfield out. Yes or no? I'm a little worried about the coming season. Also, that T.P. seem's content to start the Europa campaign without ANY new player's. ONLY Fuller and Mama too come back..
F##kin too right Smithers. I think the Europa Draw is on 15th July? Let's just F##kin hope and pray for a F##kin miricle eh! We sign, Defoe, Bellamy oh and Messi before then. Why not ask Banksie and Terry Conroy too come out of retirement? Could do a lot worse.
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11694_7025485,00.html Skysports.com understands Stoke have been unable to agree personal terms with Birmingham duo Scott Dann and Cameron Jerome. It is believed Stoke finally agreed a fee with Birmingham for the pair after weeks of negotiations between the clubs. However, they are struggling to agree terms with both players which could see the deal fall through. Dann has attracted interest from a host of clubs, with leading trio Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool all thought to be involved in the chase. The highly-rated defender is refusing to rush into a decision to accept Stoke's offer as he waits to see if any of these clubs firm up their interest. Dann is keen to play at the highest level possible and the Potters may have to be patient in their bid to secure his services.
Jerome can jog on, but I'd like Dann, just not for that price. But apparently Kenwynne was gonna cost us 16mill, and we got him for half that.
