According to NUFC.COM Pardew has hinted that Campbell could feature against Stoke as a third centre half.

Would that mean playing a 3-5-2 formation with Jonas and Simpson as wingbacks, something like this?

    ------------------Harper-------------------

    ------Taylor-----Campbell----Coloccini------

    Simpson------------------------------Jonas

    ---------Barton----Tiote----Nolan----------

    -------------Ranger------Lover-------------

Would make sense on paper I suppose but I'm worried that the communication breakdown we've witnessed so many times before rears it's ugly head. I'd like to see it work although my only concern would be playing Nolan in a deeper role. He seems to go missing against defensive teams and isn't skillful enough to threaten a packed midfield.

I'm not going to bother predicting the score, last time I tried to predicted a narrow win or low scoring/no score draw we were about to play Arsenal at home...

    EDIT: Best is broken :-(

Just reading on twitter that Best is out.

    lee_ryder Lee Ryder
#nufc Leon Best missing ahead of Stoke

Hope not but at least Ranger might finally start. That would explain why Airey is in the squad.

I really hope not aswell Smudger.. he's been our best striker of late and if he's out it'll probably be ''hoofball'' time with Ranger and Ameobi starting! I'll go for a Ranger/Lover combo if Best is actually out(which I hope not).

i'm just pleased that Barton is back in the team. Looks like a strong line up, now for a good result. Im always skeptical about the 5 defenders at the back in our team. to me it shows lack of attacking possibilities.
